On Wednesday, July 21st, Groovemaster Nile Rodgers, Madonna, Jimmy Iovine and Liberty Ross threw a 70s themed celebration called “DiscOasis” at the South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes.
The immersive, music-driven experience brought out LA’s creatives in the entertainment industry including Kat Graham, Adam Lambert, Shaun Ross, Jeremy Scott, will.i.am, Jason Mraz, Dita Von Teese, Tess Holliday, and Fortune Feimster to name a few.
The 70s fantasy encouraged guests to wear their best disco attire and even provided a roller skating rink with a live show. The venue invited guests to walk through the botanical gardens as they entered with performers in extravagant neon floats. As the crowd settled in, celeb-favorite DJ Cassidy played all of the iconic 70s bops and of course the dance floor went wild when Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’ began to play.
Everyone seemed to express themselves on the oversized “bloom” box dance floor. The unique lighting design pulsed to the rhythm’s groove, washing over the surrounding lush floral, creating a sense of togetherness. The idea that the power of community is vital to healing was felt throughout the entire experience.
The event was flowing with free drinks and cuisine including a delicious Korean BBQ taco plate by Kogi Taco Truck, vegan ice cream from Craig’s and an assortment of pizza as well. Guests winded down the evening with the retro arcade zone available for gamers to enjoy. A tent for merch was available as well for guests to bring the party home with them.
The best part is that the DiscOasis team partnered with the We Are Family Foundation, a not-for-profit organization co-founded by Nile Rodgers. This limited-run experience will be open to the public July 17th through Labor Day weekend. Tickets start at $39. General admission and VIP admission tickets are on sale now at TheDiscOasis.com or (213) 267-8786.
