Nestled into the candle lit, lower level of Champers Social Club NYC; Novara founder, Reshona Jessamy, hosted an intimate dinner to celebrate World Kindness Day on November 15.
Saved by acts of kindness during her own struggles with depression, and while overcoming a suicide attempt, Jessamy dedicates her skincare line to paying it forward. For this reason, each Novara product is packaged with affirmations.
“We created thousands of unique messages,” the gracious Jessamy noted before dinner commenced. “Those messages are really meant to spread kindness, and to uplift and inspire women.”
“Often times when we think about kindness, we think that it’s just about being nice, but kindness is more than that,” she continued. “It’s uplifting one another, it’s generosity, it’s compassion and it’s self care. So first, I implore you to be kind to yourself.”
Providing consumers with an opportunity to show themselves kindness, Novara, so far, consists of six key products know as the Waterfall Collection. The collection consists of: the soft cream Purifying Cleanser, an Illuminating Serum, their oil free Hydrating Cream; not to be confused with the Ultra Hydrating Cream, a Resurfacing Serum for texture improvement and lastly, the micro-exfoliating Revitalizing Essence treatment. Beyond gaining the benefits of each product, supporting Novara is an act of advocacy for suicide prevention since 20% of profits are donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Linking beauty and mental health as a mother, career woman, wife and entrepreneur, Jessamy continues to walk in her purpose as she uses her platform to show others why it’s important for them to do the same.

The recently released collaboration is a match made in heaven, as the two businesses are titans in their respective fields. Starter was launched in 1971 and has since changed the sports apparel game forever with licensing deals with every prominent American sports league and more professional sports teams than other brands donned Starter. Not to mention, megastars, including Justin Bieber, LL COOL J, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, Will Smith, Snoop Dogg, Run DMC, and many more have sported the brand.

On the other hand, rapper and entrepreneur Berner founded Cookies, whose street credit has made them highly sought-after in the global market.
“ALL CITY” features the Cookies X Starter II jackets. They currently come in black and gray, blue and orange, red and gold, and purple and gold, definitely a design for everyone. The designs and silhouettes are derived from the early ’90s style, combining streetwear, sportswear, and nostalgia, sure to turn heads on the subway.

After striking up a few conversations with influencers and business owners, we concluded that they projected the collection to see success. The preparation of the carefully thought-out design, with the right timing, as the 90s/Y2K isn’t going anywhere, soon, makes the “ALL CITY” jackets a closet staple.

On the evening of October 24th, Cipriani South Street hosted the highly anticipated WWD 2023 Honors, a dazzling event that brought together the titans of fashion and entertainment. It was more than just a night of glitz and glamour; it was a reminder of the industry’s profound impact and the individuals who make it all possible.
The venue, nestled by the Staten Island Ferry with a breathtaking view of the New York Harbor, set the stage for an unforgettable evening. Attendees arrived in style, embracing the night’s theme that seemed to revolve around Dior. The unmistakable presence of Dior bags and insignia paid homage to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s influence, a designer who has brought a unique touch to the fashion house. Grazia Chiuri has broken a long-standing tradition by being the first woman to helm the Dior women’s line, succeeding a line of male creative directors.
The annual WWD Honors Gala is a celebration of trailblazers who have left a mark on the fashion industry over the past year. WWD recognized outstanding designers, fashion brands, beauty houses, and retail companies for their contribution to the space. Notable guests included Madelyn Cline, Thomas Doherty (Wearing B57 Dior by Kim Jones shoes), Christopher Briney, Lola Tung, Kathryn Newton, Myah’la Herrold, Melissa Roxburgh, Carolina Herrera, Wes Gordon, and others.
One luminary of the evening, Dries Van Noten, arrived to accept an award, dressed in his own creations, confidently stating, “I’m wearing me.” Notably, some designers chose to step away from the Dior camp, such as honoree Jaques Agbobly, a talented designer from Togo & Ghana. Agbobly sported a jacket from his Agbobly line and a striking Neon Telfar bag, exuding the vibrant spirit of Black fashion. His braided hairstyle, skillfully done by Hairstylist Helena from Slayed In Braids, perfectly complemented the look, reflecting a harmony of colors and a shared appreciation for cultural aesthetics.

Among the distinguished guests, Jennifer Lawrence graced the event in a Dior Spring 2024 black wool dress, presenting the John B. Fairchild Honor for Lifetime Achievement Award to Dior Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri. This honor recognized Grazia’s illustrious career, solidifying her status alongside fashion icons like Tommy Hilfiger.
We asked honoree Gucci Westman, Co-Founder & CEO of Westman Atelier, who accepted the Best Performing Beauty Company, Small-Cap Award what advice she would give her younger self, Gucci responded, “Be brave, stretch yourself, be grateful, and soak it all in.” In a similar vein, Thomas Doherty conveyed the essence of the event, saying, “It’s fashion; it’s always chic; it’s great; enjoy.”
