Fashion and beauty brands are gearing up for the holiday, Winter, Spring, and Summer seasons. Each designer curated their latest designs to showcase what they have in store and what consumers can expect.
Tanner Fletcher “Beauty Pageant”
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Tanner Fletcher is a genderless fashion and lifestyle brand by co-founders Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell, who are partners in business and life. The collection debuted on Tuesday, September 12th, as their third appearance at New York Fashion Week. Rooted in genderless fashion, the brand’s ethos, Tanner Fletcher’s “Beauty Pageant” collection takes a bold step towards inclusivity and self-expression, redefining traditional notions of beauty and elegance. This season’s collection merges both fashion and interior design and draws inspiration from the world of Tanner Fletcher, a universe where freedom, authenticity, and diversity thrive. The show transcends boundaries and norms, embracing the spirit of beauty in all its forms.
The collection features approximately 30 looks and over 80 pieces. Tanner Fletcher’s “Beauty Pageant” offers a range of styles, including wedding options, classic suiting, and standout pieces, such as the silk charmeuse garter belt. This versatile lingerie piece features lace ruffles and elastic straps with brass clips and can be styled over various outfits, making it a symbol of versatility and empowerment.
Duvin “Please, Do Not Disturb”
Dubbed the official uniform of people who hate uniforms, “Please, Do Not Disturb,” the collection showcases a vibrant array of 76 pieces that pay homage to the iconic surf culture of 1980s Echo Beach, taking a bold leap back in time while seamlessly taking the wearer from sunny days to chilly nights.
Drawing inspiration from the days of Echo Beach, the Newport, CA destination that changed surf culture in the 80s, Holiday 2023 showcases a blend of vintage surf aesthetics with styles that pay tribute to the time but with a modern Duvin twist. Bold colors, prints, and layering pieces combine to create an ideal offering for apres-surf living, with versatile pieces designed to easily transition from the beach to the bar.
Gobi Cashmere “The Face” & “Country Chic” Collection
GOBI has remained committed to providing the world with the finest Mongolian cashmere that is comfortable, responsible, and affordable. To GOBI, sustainability means being in harmony with nature. “The Face” 2023 collection draws inspiration from the breathtaking natural beauty of Mongolia, infused with a sleek Italian design aesthetic, bringing together the brand and the Creative Director’s heritage into one clean offering. Bold blacks and reds alongside earth hues inspired by Mongolia’s natural landscape and vast steppes set the tone for the captivating collection, which presents elevated fall staples for all occasions.
The collection’s debut was marked by GOBI Cashmere’s first fashion show in over a decade held earlier this summer at Choijin Lama Temple, a sacred monument in the heart of Ulaanbaatar – Mongolia’s capital and home to GOBI’s global operation.
SAAF Garments Season One – “Campaign I”
SAAF GARMENTS launched in 2023, with a curated collection of garments that tie together two concurrent visions – one based on the silhouettes and shapes of South Asia, the other deeply embedded in the thoroughly modern aesthetics of New York. That alchemy honors an intersection of society that finds itself caught between two worlds. Season One – Campaign I – The Introduction will initially launch over a 5-part campaign, with each campaign dropping throughout the course of the next 5 months. Each campaign will thread the storyline with visual imagery and film and introduce a new capsule of pieces with each drop.
Campaign I is highlighted by a distinctive blend of tailored shapes, featuring a long-pleated jacket – a flagship of Season One – alongside a pleated mock neck long kurta and tailored pants. A cummerbund rounds out the offering, presenting a modernized update on an underserved accessory that seamlessly elevates each ensemble. Each garment is rendered in black and ivory, maintaining the brand’s signature clean palette. This color story reflects on the beauty of light and darkness, creating a symbol of balance and purity.
King Kennedy – THE “BRIGHTS” COLLECTION
King Kennedy, founded by Mikael Kennedy in 2008, has garnered recognition as “the fashion industry’s favorite rug dealer,” so expanding into accessories and ready-to-wear was a natural transition for Kennedy, who established his name in fashion as a photographer before launching the brand. Drawing inspiration from its rug collection that spans the globe – from Turkey to the Caucasus Mountains and beyond – the brand has artfully reimagined the mule.
The new “Brights” collection presents the brand’s best-selling slip-on mules in an array of statement-making bold colors. Intricately crafted from antique rugs, each pair is a one-of-a-kind work of art made in Los Angeles, embodying the brand’s commitment to unique creations that continue centuries-old storytelling held in the fibers of late-19th and early-20th-century rugs.
Wenjüe Lu – “NEITHER”
Studio Wenjüe Lu, established in 2020, is a dynamic multi-disciplinary venture co-founded by Lulu (Wenjue Lu) and Michael (Chufeng Fang). Driven by a shared vision, the studio emerged as a response to the frenetic pace of modern life, aiming to infuse “slowness” and authenticity into the realm of creativity. Wenjüe Lu recently made their New York Fashion Week debut with “NEITHER”, on Wednesday, September 13th in Long Island City.
“NEITHER” defies categorization, inviting audiences to explore a realm of nonconformity, integrity, and authenticity through the allegory of Plato’s Cave, presented via an immersive performance art piece. This fusion of fine art and fashion positions the studio as the embodiment of “Neitherness,” challenging materialism and trends to amplify hope and deliberate reality. In the studio’s own words, “Neitherness” refers to “the tendency to escape a singular definition, natural or man-made, earthly or cosmic, the eradication of ‘Eitherness’. The act of defining ‘Neitherness’ is a betrayal of Neitherness’ itself.”
