Her Name Was Carmen launched their Wine Wednesdays on March 27th, running from 6-9 p.m.
The recurring night of decadent after-work drinks will be hosted by Carmen’s own Wine Director and Sommelier Yuval Bar-kokhba. Yuval is a renowned master of his trade and the president of the Cote d’Or Wine Society. His expansive knowledge of fine wines is unparalleled. Each week Yuval will give an exciting history of highlighted wines from regions all over the world, giving guests the opportunity to sample delicious specialties.
Mallorca, Spain was the focus of the first ever Wine Wednesday. Yuval provided guests with the background on Pere Ignasi Obrador and Miquelàngel Cerdà, the collaborating innovative winemakers behind the Ànima Negra, a line of fine wines created by the pair in 1994. Guests were invited to sample three of Ànima Negra’s notable wines, including Quíbia, ÀN/2, and ÀN.
Quíbia is a delectable white wine made partially from red grapes, with a fruity aroma aged for 21 years. ÀN/2 is a unique red, fermented in stainless steel and concrete, with flavors of ripe fruit; the deep red is aged for 18 years and has hints of dark cherry and wild raspberries. ÀN, an intensely aromatic wine with a voluptuous body, is aged for up to 85 years and has hints of smokiness.
After enjoying the tasting, guests were able to order bites and socialize in the casual Carmen environment. Carmen’s Wednesday night wine tastings are sure to bring a pop to the midweek drag.
