Whether you’re a dedicated fan of the Dune franchise, or are new to the sci-fi world, HBO’s Dune: Prophecy is absolutely fall’s must-watch series.
While watching the series, I was immediately drawn in. Dune: Prophecy, starring Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, provides it all – a captivating story plot, chilling music, and a gloomy sci-fi aesthetic. The acting is superb, with the actors often leaning on their strong body language to communicate their complicated motives, instead of solely relying on words. The plot is edge-of-your-seat intriguing, and the cliff hangers are downright addicting. As for my A.S.M.R. lovers, Dune as a franchise overall, is extremely sound-oriented, and the series continues to prove that. The series’ futuristic music, and focus on the small details, makes all the difference for those who are drawn to that auditory sense. The set also blew me away, being that it provided brutalist architecture, which I’m personally a huge fan of, because of its modern take on traditional elements, and the cast members confirmed that shockingly, most of the set is actually real.
The series provides a plethora of moral dilemmas, such as “does the Sisterhood have good intentions,” and I enjoyed hearing the castmates’ diverse and honest reactions. Also, hearing the casts’ take on what advice they would offer their characters if they were their real-life friend, was refreshing as well, and it varied from “get over it,” to “take antidepressants,” both of which provided comedic relief, parallel to the series’ dramatic plot. Dune: Prophecy‘s gift, is it artistically provides something for every viewer.
