It was difficult to want to blink at Christian Cowan’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection at New York Fashion Week this past Saturday, February 10th, for a variety of reasons.
The absolutely dazzling array of avant-garde apparel matched with the jaw-dropping shoe collaboration by Stuart Weitzman was at the forefront of this extravagantly elegant presentation. But something about Isamaya Ffrench’s make-up look utilizing MAC Cosmetics products pierced spectators as the models made their round.
Ffrench did a phenomenal job at balancing the bold aesthetic of the collection without competing with it. Ffrench juxtaposed an almost bare lip, dewy cheeks and a strong contour against a clay-colored smoky eye and over-the-top, drawn-on bottom lashes.
Ffrench exemplified the sex appeal and lavishness of the collection by piecing together an exaggerated doe-eyed look. Every model had thick amounts of white eyeliner that exceeded past their bottom waterline and coated both their real, lower lashes and a portion of their under-eye area.
The use of MAC’s jet-black eyeliner seamlessly morphed the wing extending from the upper lash-line into the outermost bottom eyelash on the bottom, where parallel strokes of the same product created a reverse eyelash affect well below the models’ actual eye.
The use of matte finishes from MAC Cosmetics allowed the outfits to sparkle for themselves, but did not shy away from leaving a striking impression on spectators observing from all angles.
