“I don’t want to look down, it’s a long way down. So come on and take me higher, babe.” – Samuel Mancini, “Higher”
With the onslaught of “new music” being produced today, many artists have lost the ability to stand out amongst the crowd. Yet, one new artist has emerged with a completely new sound, Samuel Mancini.
Samuel Mancini, born and raised in Connecticut, released his newest EP, Higher, to the world in March of this year.
Sam’s newest tracked titled EP, Higher, is sizzling hot. The album gives us the summer feels with its sunny, smooth vocals and warm electronic melody.
Mancini uses this album to tell his story of love, loss, and his road to the elusive road of fame. As Samuel Mancini has catapulted into mainstream music, he has redefined the definition of California vibes.
His summery tone is a refreshing and upbeat sound that will stand out on your 2017 summer playlists.
Not to mention, Mancini is the very definition of understated chic with his simple take on ripped jeans and a face that rivals that of a young Patrick Swayze.
WARNING LADIES, hold on to your drinks.
Mancini is branding his name across this summer’s hottest playlists.
We recently sat down with Samuel Mancini at the G Star Showroom in Manhattan, to get the down low on what we can expect in his upcoming endeavors.
Do you have a style icon that you emulate your look after?
I just kind of do my own thing. I mean some people are really into fashion like A$ap Rocky and Miguel.
Everyone has that staple clothing piece, what would yours be?
My converse for sure. My chucks, that’s my go to. I have like 4 different colors. I have red, blue, white, all black. [I have] all the classic ones.
Your new EP, “Higher”, has dropped, and each song seems to tell a different story. What’s the inspiration behind the album?
They all come from the same place. I was in a really good place in my life, mentally. No one specific event inspired any song. They all just kind of came naturally.
Now is there a particular process that helped you create these songs?
Most of them come to me. The melody usually comes first, out of nowhere. I’ll just get one line, and then I will build around that. Usually, when I get the chorus first, that’s usually a good sign.
You started your acting debut in the film, “Love the Coopers”. How has that been going?
Good. I haven’t done much acting lately, but I would love to get back into it. That’s always a place in my heart. I have been acting since I was little in church plays.
Which would you prefer, acting or singing?
Definitely singing. For sure. If I had to pick only one.
What impression do you hope to leave on your audience after they hear your EP?
I just want you to feel good, be fearless, be courageous. And just achieve something. To keep going “higher”. The only way is up.
Now the real question is, which track did your mother like?
Her favorite was actually “Tell Me”. Which is funny because that’s the only explicit one. I remember when she first saw the EP, she was like, “I’m not listening to that one because there’s a little red E beside it”. And I was like, “Ok Mom, just listen to it”. I remember watching her listening to it, and after I said the F word she [winced]. And she was like “I actually really like this song”. That one’s actually her favorite.
How was it working with Diane Keaton?
Even seeing in the flesh was kind of like, Woah. You know. It was amazing, not even being in the same room. We were literally working together. Obliviously, she was working hard than I was, but I was still there.
If you could create any genre of music, anything to describe your particular music, what would it be?
Probably sexy, savage.
Is there a new music video coming out?
There is. It will be out shortly. I just wrapped two weeks ago, for “Higher”.
Is it “Sexy, Savage” worthy?
I would say so, yeah. I haven’t seen it yet, but yes.
So what’s next for you Sam?
Debut album coming out, and I am working on it. A tour, hopefully. If it’s not my own tour, then a tour with somebody. And a lot of performances. That’s what I am most excited about.
