The team’s back together for Apple TV+’s ‘Ted Lasso’ season 2 and brought, even more, laughs, tears and courage on the AFC Richmond football field.
The highly anticipated second season, executive produced by and starring Jason Sudeikis, will include 12 episodes this time around. Sudeikis plays Ted Lasso, an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team—despite having no experience. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism…and biscuits.
The award-winning comedy series has been honored with global recognitions including the Peabody Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Golden Globe Award, since its debut in August 2020.
The Knockturnal exclusively sat down with cast members Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Cristo Fernández, Toheeb Jimoh, and more. Sarah Niles joins the cast this season as ‘Sharon,’ a sports psychologist who has been brought in to work with the AFC Richmond team. The stellar cast tells us what fans can expect this season.
Waddingham who plays ‘Rebecca,’ the owner of the show’s football team, says you’ll see different ‘layers’ of the female lead character.
“She’s the boss, and loves being the boss…loves her boys, and will make sure that they are guided, looked after…[Rebecca] is wholeheartedly the absolute leader of that setup and loving it.”
When asked what her experience was like returning to set with the ‘Ted Lasso’ cast for season 2, Waddingham responded “totally effortless.”
The first episode of ‘Ted Lasso’ season 2 will premiere Friday, July 23, 2021, on Apple TV+.
