The opulent champagne brand hosts an exclusive tribute party in honor of the late artist, whose artwork inspired the design of their Special-Edition Vintage 2015 bottle.
Taking place at The Brant Foundation in New York City last night, which hosted several Basquiat exhibitions throughout the years, it was only fitting that Dom Pérignon celebrated here again for its launch party. In addition to the influx of creatives, artists, and family members of Basquiat in attendance, some notable attendees included Zoe Kravitz, Dave East, Victor Cruz, Natasha Lyonne, Luka Sabbat, and more.
Outside the venue, the enlarged image of the Dom Pérignon bottle logo stamped on the building foreshadowed the ubiquitous sighting throughout the evening. Once guests entered the exhibition, crowds formed to admire Basquiat’s “In Italian” (1983) framed artwork. Right behind the painting, an additional element to Basquiat’s tribute was a polaroid photo installation taken by photographer Maripol, who captured the essence of the vibrant energy of the 80s. Some notable faces in the installation were Madonna, Sadé, and the man of the hour— Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The night continued to get sweeter as guests headed upstairs and enjoyed a live jazz performance by Onyx Collective, followed by a rocking DJ set by DJ Justin Strauss, which turned the space into a private club vibe. With more glasses of the drink, guests indulged in the light bites served throughout the evening.
