This Thursday, Remy Cointreau hosted an interactive cocktail class at Milk Studios celebrating The Art of the Mix.
Before the main cocktail event, guests were treated to pre-drinks and hors d’oeuvres in addition to plenty of photo opportunities in event spaces featuring
three of Remy Cointreau’s most celebrated spirits: Cointreau, The Botanist Gin and Mount Gay Rum. The main event space was dedicated to a life-sized Cointreau bottle and margarita glass backlit with the orange liquor’s signature tangerine color and beach backdrop, inviting guests to a perfect and tropical insta-worthy photo. In adjacent rooms was a cabin inspired area with rustic brick and wood interiors decorated with candle lanterns and plush pillows to inspired from Mount Gay Rum, and an open-garden wooden swing set tailored for the Botanist Gin.
Following the interactive introduction to the spirits, we joined for a curated cocktail-making session, led by master mixologist and host, Dominic Allin. Guests were all given a full station which included ingredients and barware for the three cocktail recipes: Famous Holiday Margarita,
Blackberry Thyme Bramble, and Holiday Old-Fashioned Rum. Allin demonstrated step by step instructions to making simple at home drinks such as the four ingredient margarita (Cointreau, lime juice, bitters, and tequila) and versatility of Cointreau for alternatives like a heavier rum by incorporating Mount Gay Rum. Garnishes and additional ingredients such as rosemary, cinnamon, and thyme gave each
cocktail an interesting and individual olfactory and gustatory twist. As a novice mixologist, a favorite of the evening was the zesty and refreshing Blackberry Thyme Bramble because of its rich lavender color from the burst of blackberries shaken with ice and crisp aftertaste of Botanist Gin, making a perfect cocktail for all celebratory occasions.
