Anti–aging has dominated the beauty and wellness industries for decades, with new products constantly promising to “turn back the clock.”
Social media has only amplified this, with beauty influencers promoting exhausting routines in pursuit of perfection. With the pressure to prioritize beauty and anti-aging trends changing daily, wellness quickly becomes overwhelming.
With the release of its new Age Defy line, acclaimed vitamin brand Centrum is bringing a refreshing angle to the conversation, offering a simple wellness solution at every stage of life. The brand partnered with actress Kate Walsh and nutrition expert Maya Feller for its Inside Out Makeover on August 13, sparking a conversation about what it means to age well. Rather than positioning healthy aging as an endless pursuit of youth, the event explored a different question: what if the goal isn’t to look younger, but to feel our best at every stage of life?
Centrum’s Age Defy line is designed for adults 35 and older (with the separate Age Defy Silver for adults over 50), with formulas intended to support changing nutritional needs as people age. The products are positioned around holistic wellness, including support for heart and brain health, immune function, energy, metabolism, bone density, muscle function, and cellular longevity. The larger idea behind the launch, though, goes beyond nutritional support, framing aging as something that does not have to be feared or ashamed of.

Walsh, known for roles in Grey’s Anatomy, Emily in Paris, and Private Practice, brought her perspective on aging and self-care into the conversation. Having navigated Hollywood’s pressure to look young, she explained how her approach to wellness has shifted over time. Rather than chasing appearance or results, she now prioritizes sustainable habits that help her feel her best in the moment while supporting her future self. She also acknowledged how easily wellness itself can become a source of pressure: “There is so much information out there in culture right now on different ways for self-care. Everything from meditation to sleep hygiene, to doing this, doing that, and exercise and all the things… and I think you can get overwhelmed. So for me… simple is better”
Dietitian and Nutrition expert Maya Feller echoed this sentiment, noting how much pressure we feel to achieve perfection. “When I think about my patients, so many of them are seeking perfection,” Feller shared. She expressed that this impossible pursuit is as misguided as it is frustrating: “Wellness is multifactorial; it’s individual… There are different seasons in life and different experiences people have that contribute to their overall well-being.”
“My hope is that as people think about well-being and think about the different stages of their life, that they’re like ‘what can I do now that’s also sustainable and that will pull me into the future.” The conversation brought empowerment to a topic that often sparks insecurity. Instead of asking how best to conceal wrinkles, perhaps we should ask what we can do today to support the person we will be 5, 10, and 20 years down the line.
Centrum is taking this conversation to the streets of New York on August 21 with its Inside Out Scavenger Hunt. Hosted by wellness influencer and entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman, the event will use digital clues to guide participants to lifestyle and wellness destinations throughout the city, with challenges that connect nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and self-care.
