‘The End Of Oak Street ‘ held its star-studded premiere at Warner Bros.’ Steven J. Ross Theater, with Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor and producer JJ Abrams among the stars who came out to celebrate the new film, which hits theaters on August 14.
And while we came for The End Of Oak Street, the night started off with what could be called The Beginning of the Block Party on what is officially known around the studio as Midwest Street, but what I always called Stars Hollow (yes, that’s where many of the sequences for the show were filmed).
But on Tuesday it got another transformation, this time into a Hollywood block party… and a whole bunch of dinosaurs.
Luckily, these were much friendlier than the ones you might see on the trailers for the movie. I’m unaware of anyone actually getting eaten at the premiere, it may be another story entirely for some of the characters on screen. At least for that one woman we all saw in the trailer. No spoilers here!
Guests mingled beneath the familiar town facades, soaking in the extremely hot summer air in Burbank while making the rounds for comfort-food staples including fresh pizza, legendary Pink’s Hot Dogs, chicken wraps, and fudgy brownies and cookies with a cereal twist.
Later, the crowd migrated from the street party into the theater. Hathaway and McGregor took the stage alongside Abrams, Mitchell, and cast and crew to introduce the movie before the lights dimmed and we were all transported back to Oak Street.
If the premiere’s energetic mix of retro charm and big-screen thrill is any indicator, moviegoers are in for one wild, nostalgic ride when the film officially opens this weekend.
