Desigual Presents Spring 2016 Collection

Desigual did not disappoint this fashion week as it unveiled its spring 2016 collection at The Arc Skylight at Moynihan Station.

The departure from traditional Lincoln Center shows this season has kept people on their toes, running from show to show. The change of scenery landed Desigual’s Spring 2016 fashion week presentation at the center of the garment district on west 33rd street. In traditional Desigual fashion the collection included bright colors, bold prints and off-the-wall accessories, one model even strutted down the runway selfie stick and cell phone in hand.

The spanish fashion house is a risk taker to say the least and did not hold back this season. With a focus on the multi-faceted and multi-talented woman, this season’s collection was all about female empowerment. Inspired by the busy Barcelona woman the looks catered to a variety of aesthetics.

The collection featured a wide assortment of vibrant colors balanced by muted or neutral tones. Mixed prints and fabrics, a fashion week regular on Desigual’s runway, also made an appearance. Tweed and silk and every fabric in between was present on the runway. Silhouettes alternated between more form fitted to oversized and masculine, especially noticeable with the outerwear. Florals were a standout print in this collection with bright neon orange, animated designs as well as daintier white flowers on a kimono-like cover up. The real fun was in the accessories. Desigual featured the outgoing loud woman, but complimented these looks with softer sensual pieces like the white and neutral cut-out tribal print dress, connecting to the styles of all women. From headphones to headpieces, the bold accessories contributed to the powerful amazon-warrior-like presence of the models. The collection payed homage to street style with an urban influence and represented the vast styles of the modern cosmopolitan woman.
