While we all miss the familiarity and ritual of the runway show at Lincoln Center, House of GANT taught guests that change is good by throwing a celebrity-filled cocktail party and, oh yes, showed off their Spring 2016 collections.
The presentation of the collection at Spring Studios opened with the bright, dramatic entrance of a mirrored room encircled by models wearing the classic GANT white button-down and faded jeans then transported to the world of GANT with white-jacketed waiters proffering a variety of cocktails and champagne.
The House three sub-brands, GANT Originals, GANT Diamond G, and GANT Rugger, were presented in thematic “sets” where models posed and lounged in the Spring 2016 collections. Of the collection, GANT Creative Director, Christopher Bastin said, “We found our inspiration in the clean lines of the Beinecke Library, as well as the intellectual energy on campuses all over the US and the great things that come from it.”
While perusing the collections, guests enjoyed an expansive variety of cocktails and whiskey from Kings County Distillery and passed mini hors d’oeuvres of burgers, crab cakes and tacos.
The GANT Originals collection takes inspiration from the Yacht Club, Golf Club, and Beach Club; the wardrobe for an outdoor lifestyle. The collections consists of casual, comfortable silhouettes in bright summer colors such as orange, turquoise, and navy, all materials are kept light.
Paying homage to the GANT icon, GANT Rugger, is the result of a collection that breathes future and innovation more than heritage. The lines pays close attention to detail with pinstripes and patched blazers and shorts, embroidered jumpers, linen t-shirts, outerwear and dresses in blues and whites.
GANT Diamond G, the most sophisticated of the three brands, focuses on versatile tailoring, travel and a sophisticated off-duty look. The collection consists of blazers, coordinated separates, sets and shirts of small geometrics and graphic floras in double-faced, hopsack, twill and denim are seen in shades of black and white, classic dark blue, Hamptons blue, filament orange, fragola pink, indigo and khaki.
