If you were expecting a version of Eat, Pray, Love, you will be in for a pleasant surprise when you watch Love of Your Life.
The film made its premiere at TIFF 2026, and it was a hard ticket to get (trust me, I tried). Fortunately, Amazon MGM hosted a special screening for the film at IFC Center in New York City on October 7. We were introduced to the film with words on its significance from director Rachel Morrison, Margaret Qualley, and Aaron Pierre. The cast has some of the hottest talent in cinema today (Hello, Margaret, Patrick, and Aaron). However, the plot left many in the audience thinking back to their COVID experiences. Love of Your Life gives us an opportunity to look back at the pandemic and its aftermath.

Studies at Harvard and Stanford have looked at the impact of the pandemic on learning. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention even recognizes the condition of Long COVID for those of us who are still dealing with symptoms long after infection. However, there has been a psychological change that, for some of us who lived through the pandemic, needs more light shed on it. Through the work of director Rachel Morrison and writer Julia Cox, this issue is touched on in the life of emergency department nurse Maya, played by Margaret Qualley. She lives one life before the pandemic and, like many of us, lives a completely different one after. The film shows this shift during one of the most transformative periods in modern history.

The film suggests we have a choice in life to be happy. And it’s worth more than the alternative of unhappiness. COVID changed the world as we know it. Love of Your Life gives us a chance to look at that change from multiple angles. This is not your average romantic movie about self-discovery. In fact, it’s far deeper and more important to our time after the pandemic.
Love of Your Life is now playing at select theaters and will be streaming globally on Prime Video October 14.
