Ahead of the release of her self-titled album, singer-songwriter Kasey Tyndall celebrated alongside fans, friends, and family at Hill Country Barbecue Market in New York City.

On Feb. 19, Kasey Tyndall took over the lower level of Hill Country to preview her debut album under MNRK Records with a live band and electricity to spare. This album marks a new start for the singer, who signed to the label after having released country-rock numbers independently since 2017. The same stylistic flair characteristic of Tyndall’s earlier tunes like “Jesus and Joan Jett” or “Dirt Road to Hell” is reflected in her latest work, but when set to a drum set and electric guitar, comes to life for guests in an entirely new manner.

After treating guests to barbecue and drinks, Tyndall took to the Hill Country stage for a fifty-minute set showcasing songs off of the album, which was released on Feb. 28. Her newest record sees her walk the line between country sensibilities and the energy of rock-and-roll through strong acoustics and her own witty, apt lyricism.

Songs like “Men Like You” and “Not As I’ve Done” highlight the relationships between Tyndall and her husband and daughter. The number “Crystal Methodist” paints a town that, while presenting a positive veneer, is steeped in the darker tendencies of its residents. Tyndal’s work is anchored in both humor and heart, and her album pulls from her life and imagination alike to present spirited tales of equal merit. In performing these songs live to a crowd – sometimes with the support of the audiences’ call and response or a cowbell – listeners were sure to get the sense that the album was received in its ideal way: warmly divulged, storylike, by Tyndall herself.
