The Knockturnal: Where were you when you first got the call to be on Drag Race?
Morphine Love Dion: So, when I got the call for Drag Race, I was in bed rotting. I was so hungover from the night before. It was 7:34pm and I cancelled my gig that night because I just couldn’t do it. I was so beyond hungover and was eating Taco Bell and watching South Park. I was a bum, like straight rotting. And then I was like, ‘Oh my god, I have a feeling that today is going to be the day.’ My voice is also gone. And then I get the call and I jump out of the bed – my spirit was still in the bed but my body was jolted. It was an out of body experience. I got the call and I couldn’t even scream, I couldn’t even cry because I was so hungover. I had no fluids left in my body. But regardless, it was amazing

I also had my phone charging. So 40 minutes went by and I went to check it and there was a missed call from WOW. I saved the number. So I called back and I was like ‘Um yeah, I think you just called me?’ And she was like, ‘Do you have a minute?’ And from that point I knew. So I sat on the floor and when they said yes I busted out crying.

So I run outside and I was drunk. Like, drunkkkk. Drunk with a capital D-R-U-N-K, drunk. And I called the number back and the person on the other end said, ‘Are you alone?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ And then he said, ‘Condragulations, you have been cast on the next season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.’ So that’s where I was when I got the call.
