Yoshiki talks new documentary film Yoshiki Under the Sky
Japanese rock legend and now director worked with artists from all over the world to create the documentary Yoshiki Under the Sky. The film follows Yoshiki‘s story and his passion to inspire his fans. He had many artists help collaborate on this project including Sarah Brightman, Nicole Scherzinger, St. Vincent, Scorpions, The Chainsmokers, HYDE, SUGIZO, SixTONES, Jane Zhang and Lindsey Stirling. Yoshiki collaborated with these artists to create new renditions of some of their most well known songs. His compositions include classical, rock and pop styles. The film was shot in Germany, Beijing, Tokyo, and LA and includes interviews and powerful performances.
Yoshiki told the Knockturnal about his passion for philanthropy, giving back and helping. With so many people hurting in this world, he has a vision to use his platform and resources to bring people together. Yoshiki told us about some of his early philanthropy efforts. It started over a decade ago, he said, “I was touring around the world, I decided to support children who were having a hard time and didn’t have parents.” He started to find new ways to help and give back he told us, “I start realizing helping people actually helps me.” In 2010 he started his own foundation, a nonprofit called Yoshiki Foundation America.
