For being a so-called “filthy animal unfit for human company” Channing Tatum didn’t bite when the Knockturnal asked him about his comeback with the film “Dog.” (For the record, it’s the “Dog” movie poster labeling him an animal, not us!)
Tatum plays Army Ranger Briggs, a man silently coping with trauma from the battlefield, but still itching for redeployment. His superior will only allow it if he completes one more mission, go on a cross country trip with man’s best friend, a dog. But this is no ordinary dog. Co-star Lulu, a Belgian Malinois, has been trained by the US military for one thing and one thing only, to take down the biggest threats to America. Like Briggs, she has her own fair share of trauma. Can these two “animals” forge a relationship on their road trip? Or will they tear each other apart like a bedroom slipper (or Briggs’ car seat)?
Both Tatum who co-produced and co-directed alongside his buddy Reid Carolin sat down with The Knockturnal, describing his admiration for the work of an Army Ranger, how he went on a similar journey with his own dog, and what the audience can learn from this heartwarming journey in the midst of a pandemic where so many (including Tatum) are questioning what the future holds.
