Here’s Why We Can’t Stop Thinking About These Tribeca Fan Favorites

Tribeca Film Festival 2021 was jam-packed with standout films, shorts, TV shows, and experiences, and yet we are still hung up on three premieres that you have to see. Find out why below.

Kevin Can F**K Himself

Yes, we all know and love Emmy winner Annie Murphy. But do we really know all sides of her comedic brilliance? Turns out, the Schitt’s Creek star has plenty more quips to sling our way. Kevin Can F**k Himself hinges on Murphy as Allison, a Massachusetts housewife who is at the center of a family sitcom satire…turned revenge drama. Is Allison more frustrated with her suburban life, saddled with an obnoxious husband, or is she haunted by her own complacency? With uncomfortable jokes, an awkward laugh track, and a hint of homicide, Kevin better watch out.

Poser

Ok so we just binged Cruel Summer and are craving another millennial take on Mulholland Drive meets All About Eve, and that’s where Poser beautifully landed. Co-directors Ori Segev and Noah Dixon craft a tale of obsessive fandom with a nod to Ingrid Goes West and Mainstream in the Columbus, Ohio-based music scene flick. Lennon (Sylvie Mix) is an aspiring musician who is desperate for fame. She starts a podcast, crosses paths with rockstar Bobbi Kitten (a real-life artist essentially playing herself), and the duo become inseparable in a toxic codependency. The haunting film is a definite must-see.

Werewolves Within

Josh Ruben has done it again! The comic writer-director-actor adapted the Werewolves Within video game into a fun horror slasher. New park ranger Finn Wheeler (Sam Richardson) has to fight off werewolves in a hilariously grim take on the small-town U.S.A. With a stellar ensemble cast including Milana Vayntrub, Michaela Watkins, Michael Chernus, Harvey Guillén, Wayne Duvall, and Cheyenne Jackson, Werewolves Within is a genre-bending hit.
