Brec Bassinger discusses what it was like to step into the role of a sorority girl trying to survive a murderer in the new film, ‘Buzzkill,’ streaming on Tubi.
The 2026 film, ‘Buzzkill,’ follows a group of sorority sisters trying to integrate back into Greek social life when a masked killer returns, trapping them together. Nora, known as the party girl, believes her drunken memories will lead her and her sorority sisters to the killer’s identity. The catch is that Nora only truly remembers the more she drinks.
Brec Bassinger plays Kendall in ‘Buzzkill.’ Kendall is a perfectionist, determined to protect the sorority’s reputation from anything that threatens its image. Bassinger expresses that she “really leaned into Kendall’s identity as much as possible to really get that juxtaposition against the other women.” The women’s identities are significantly different and deeper than what meets the eye, allowing each of them to stand out. That factor creates a unique situation of chaos in the film.
As a lover of horror, campiness, and comedy, Bassinger was thrilled to step into this role and new experience. During our interview, she says, “That’s what I love about ‘Buzzkill ‘; it still has the blood, guts, and gore that horror fans love, but then for people like me that maybe are a little more anxious at times, I can still enjoy it; there’s like an escapism to it.”
