Chrissie Fit has powered through 2020 to make the most of her year. The multitalented writer, director, and actor opens up about new film, “All My Life.”

The heartbreaking yet uplifting All My Life captures a real-life love story that endured the unthinkable. Jenn Carter (Jessica Rothe) and Solomon Chau (Harry Shum Jr.) receive news of Solomon’s liver cancer diagnosis after getting engaged. Thanks to family, friends, and their local community, the couple raise over $52,000 through a GoFundMe account to quickly pull off a dream wedding. Chrissie Fit stars as the couple’s onscreen friend Amanda, who is crucial in organizing everything from a flash mob proposal to supporting Jenn throughout her journey of both love and loss.

“[All My Life] just really affected me,” Fit opened up about choosing the role. “It is about a couple that I could possibly know. That grounded realness and the way that they persevered and worked together, just how strong their love was, was inspiring to me. I thought it was a very special movie.”

Jenn Carter actually visited with the ensemble cast while filming in New Orleans. Fit voiced her admiration for Carter’s determination in honoring late husband Solomon’s memory. “She is such a strong woman, an incredibly brave woman, and so kind,” Fit explained. “She’s just a warrior.”

Fit has proven to be a powerhouse herself with her numerous projects in 2020. The versatile star voices a character in Season 2 of hit cartoon series Animaniacs, and appears in “Press Pause” campaign videos for VS Pink and Jed Foundation. Fit also flexes her directing skills behind the camera for “Press Pause,” while writing, producing, and starring in the shorts just.

“I have wanted to direct something for a while but have always been like ‘I don’t know if it’s the right time, I don’t know if I’m ready,'” Fit admitted. “It took a pandemic and a very stressful election to be like, ‘this is the right time, let’s do it now.'”

Looking back on 2020, Fit is thankful for the fire it has given her. From writing scripts that increase representation onscreen to pursuing her newfound passion for directing, Fit says she’s no longer waiting for “permission” to be her best self.

“If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that time is the most precious resource was have, aside from our health,” Fit concludes. “Time is so important and we shouldn’t waste it. We should make the most of it.”

“All My Life” premieres on December 4.
