Exclusive: Cast Talks ‘A Quiet Place Part Two’ at the World Premiere

A Quiet Place Part II, starring John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Cillian Murphy hosted its world premiere on March 8th at the Lincoln Center in New York City. A Quiet Place Part II is a continuation of the Abott family’s silent yet vigorous fight for survival against the creatures that hunt by sound.

The theater was certainly not “a quiet place” as audience members moaned and gasped while watching the Abbott family’s journey. If I had a nickel for every time that I jumped out of my seat, I would have enough money to buy a ticket to see the movie again.

Of course, we already know from the first film that the cast members exude talent from every fiber of their beings, but in part two, Millicent Simmonds’ character Regan truly steals the show. Simmonds’ acting was so good that I want to scream it from the rooftops (but you know, I can’t because of the creatures). Millicent is an inspiration to young and older women alike, and the same can be said about her character, Regan.

Regan undergoes a transformation from a daughter, to a household leader, after her father’s death. Millicent Simmonds discussed this transformation with The Knockturnal. “After the loss of Regan’s father in the first film, it really affected her. She now has to step in her father’s footsteps, and find the courage in herself,” says Simmonds. “She is always wondering, ‘What would my father do?, What’s the right thing for me to do?’ and then that’s what she tries to do.”

Not only does Regan go through a transformation herself, she also helps other characters to grow as well, such as Emmet, played by Cillian Murphy. “When we meet my character he’s in a state of grief. Grief and trauma do something to people,” says Murphy. “I think what Milly’s character does is transform every character she meets including mine. It’s a beautiful journey of transformation.”

But the question everyone wants the answer to is, “What is it like working with John Krasinski and Emily Blunt?” Well, Cillian Murphy has the answer. “They have such respect for each others talent, obviously they have a wonderful shorthand together,” says Murphy. “There’s a lot of fun on set but there’s real, real focus when we’re working and we’re shooting. Theresa lot of talent in that family but they’re the most gracious, warm, welcoming people it’s lovely to be in their company.”

Will the Abbot Family be able to end the fight once and for all? Or is A Quiet Place III on the horizon? Well, that’s for me to know and for you to find out. A Quiet Place II will be in theaters nationwide on March 20.
