Deon Cole, Michael Trucco, Malcolm Barrett, and Cynthia Kaye McWilliams share what audiences can expect for the upcoming season of ‘Average Joe’ on Paramount+.
Average Joe follows the life of a plumber in Pittsburgh whose life turns upside down after his father unexpectedly passes. Joe, played by Deon Cole, discovers that his father was involved with the Russian mob and stole millions of dollars from them. Being left to pick up the mess his father left him, Joe, his family, and friends are dragged into the world of crime and violence they never thought they’d be in. Following the explosive events of Season 1, the upcoming season picks up on the cliffhanger audiences were left on.
During our interview with the cast, they shared how much higher the stakes are as Joe and his crew are brought to uncharted territory to continue their search for answers. Deon Cole assures us that regardless of Joe’s lack of experience in this crime world, he is “trying his best with what he got” in Season 2 of Average Joe. Joe, with the support of his friends, continues to battle dangerous situations he never imagined himself in.
Michael Trucco’s character, Touch, continues to support Joe, but audiences can expect to see a new and “inviting” side of him in the upcoming season. Following Season 1, where Touch would bottle up his emotions, Trucco admits, “We see more layers to Touch in Season 2; he opens up, and we get to know him a little bit better.” Malcolm Barrett, who portrays Joe’s close friend, also continues to support him alongside his outspoken, true crime-obsessed wife, Cathy. Their bond as husband and wife remains strong and grows through all the chaos. Barrett assures, “They have an ever-evolving relationship, and I think that trend continues into the second season.” The characters’ care for each other guides their actions and choices, making the series intense and relatable.
Season 2 of Average Joe promises more laughs, more unexpected twists, and risks that audiences won’t want to miss. Watch our full interview above to hear Deon Cole, Michael Trucco, and more talk about what to expect ahead of the new season.
