The Fall/Winter ’20 collection by designer Vivienne Hu corralled Spring Studios on Friday with a celebration of classic Americana.
Forty women’s ready-to-wear looks debuted on the runway with Southwestern-inspired details like studs, shearling, and suedes.
“I was inspired by the beauty and sheer magnitude of the great American Southwest,” designer Hu said of her eponymous brand’s latest fall styles. “In this collection, I hope to capture the nostalgia of witness such natural grandeur [as the Antelope Canyon] while playing on the lore of the west.”
The cowboy chic fairytale included upscale puffer coats, ’70s metallic striped mini dresses paired with oversized furry fluffs, and plenty of turtlenecks to make even the late Steve McQueen envious. Yet each look was perfectly styled with a minimalistic, feminine approach to the great cowboys of lore.
A favorite ensemble reinvented a natural mud brown hue–reminiscent of dusty terrains–with impeccable tailoring, an asymmetrical chain detail, and the sheen of a metallic interior, making this evening gown sparkle like a sunset over an open plain.
