When in New York City this summer, one might ask, “Where should I eat right now?” For those looking for some first-rate Italian cuisine, try Audace Ristorante, an elegant family-owned and operated restaurant, that is serving the most delicious Neapolitan-style pizzas and pastas. The setting is upscale and chic, while the hospitality is genuine.

Nestled in the lower level of the Hotel Giraffe in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood at 365 Park Avenue South, Audace Ristorante—meaning audacious and bold in Italian—is an impeccable, modern Italian dining experience that will transport diners to Naples via their incredible food. Opened in 2024 by owner Mario Ursumando, the ristorante features a contemporary menu that celebrates generations of beloved family recipes and only uses the highest quality ingredients sourced directly from Italy.

The standout on their menu is their award-winning Neapolitan-style pizza. Crafted by Chef Fabio Stipulante, who has experience working in Michelin-starred kitchens in Puglia, Italy, the Picante Pizza is a must-order. The wood burning oven gave this pie a raised, puffy crust that was chewy and marked with charred, blistered spots. Their bread-like pizza crust was stellar and one of the best in New York. It was marvelous and tasted more like an artisanal loaf of bread. The Picante Pizza’s sauce was made with San Marzano tomatoes and topped with imported smoked mozzarella, spicy salami, ‘Nduja and wild oregano. The pizza was textbook: soft and thin with a slightly chewy center that drooped when lifted. Traditionalists would be very proud of Audace Ristorante’s version of the classic pie. Chef Fabio uses Italian flours and ingredients combining time-honored Italian methods with present-day techniques to create flavorful pies that showcase the culinary heritage of Southern Italy. Other pizzas available at Audace include a fancy pie made with Italian White Sturgeon Caviar, burrata, imported sun-dried tomatoes; a zucchini pie with buffalo ricotta and many more unique options that will cater to all palates.

As for the handmade pasta at Audace Ristorante, the Rigatoni al Ragù Napoletano, a slow-cooked Neapolitan ragù enriched with Parmigiano Reggiano fondue and basil oil, was absolutely divine. The meat sauce was very flavorful and slightly sweet. Each bite of the pasta was mighty and memorable. Also, the presentation of the Rigatoni al Ragù Napoletano was exquisite. The rigatoni noodles were neatly stacked and I had never seen pasta plated in that way. Other pasta options include the Spicy Lobster Linguine, which is served with a half lobster, Piennolo tomatoes from Naples, a crustacean bisque, and Calibrian chili. There’s also the classic Linguine Alle Vongole, linguine with Manila clams, garlic, white wine sauce, and spicy extra virgin olive oil.

The main entrees at Audace Ristorante are also exceptional, mainly the 8 oz. beef filet served with asparagus, shaved truffles and Barolo beef jus sauce. I could eat this everyday. The meat was perfectly cooked and was extremely juicy and tender. This luxurious dish was the highlight and I can’t wait to return and eat it again. Other entrees include a breaded chicken breast, bone-in veal, and a 32 oz. porterhouse steak and salmon.

To cap off the wonderful meal at Audace Ristorante, you can’t skip dessert. Their tiramisu was satisfying and exemplary, but the Tortino Nocciola, which is a homemade hazelnut cake served with molten white chocolate and hazelnut paste as well as salted-caramel, hazelnut crumble and vanilla gelato, was outstanding and a must-order. It’s beyond simple enjoyment and we highly recommend it.

Not only is the food a great reason to visit Audace Ristorante, but also for its ambiance. Guests will descend down a staircase and transport to a hidden oasis, where old-world Italian charm meets classy, contemporary sophistication. Green leather banquettes, marble tabletops, portraits of famous celebrities and dim lighting create a cozy, moody and sexy atmosphere that invites hungry guests to relax and indulge.

Overall, Audace Ristorante is flawless and it checks all the boxes in finding the perfect restaurant. It’s a destination for any occasion where the food is as good as the vibe. Also, the staff are genuinely friendly and read your cues without hovering or interrupting. Make a reservation now. You won’t want to miss out on this experience.
