The hustle and bustle of NYFW is coming to a halt, but on Friday, The Knockturnal had exclusive access to the latest collection by BCBGMAXAZRIA for fall/winter 2018.
The moment you walk into the presentation inside Pier59 Studios, you see models standing tall underneath art from five female artists. The artists that partnered with BCBGMaxazria were illustrator Langley Fox, painter Katie Rodger, fashion illustrator Blair Breitenstein, art director Adrienne Raquel and filmmaker Sinziana Velicescu.
It feels like an independent woman’s fashion dream. BCBGMaxazria knows how to put on an amazing presentation of their latest collection called ‘Rough Glamour’ thanks to creative director, Bernd Kroeber.
As you take your walk around the platforms in a shape of an ‘O’ you see that each look is designed for a different scene. From beautiful crystal gowns that look like something out of ‘The Great Gatsby’ to the pajama chic silk robes and matching pants (you can just roll out of bed and be ready for dinner in 5).
The hues of pastel pinks, blue and then bright red was the theme of the collection along with a lot of neutral colors because who doesn’t like dressing head to toe black in the winter?
Once you take your spin around and come towards the end, you see modern day work pieces with a lot of plaid happening in the patterns.
Bernd Kroeber said, “I really wanted to put into play a woman that is both modern and feminine.” To him this is what a BCBG woman means, both of these are seen in his collection as you have two kinds of pieces that flow well with each other, from going to work in the day and then stepping out for a gala at night. “A woman is effortless, international, diversity… all of the above.”
