Sony Pictures Home Entertainment invites movie and art lovers to take an unforgettable journey filled with love, compassion and triumph when MAUDIE debuts on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on October 10th.

Academy Award nominees Sally Hawkins (Best Supporting Actress, Blue Jasmine, 2014) and Ethan Hawke (Best Supporting Actor, Boyhood, 2015) star in this stunning biopic based on the famous folk artist Maud Lewis (Hawkins) a bright-eyed, intelligent woman, hunched with crippled hands from arthritis, yearns to be independent from her overly protective family. She answers an advertisement for a housekeeper by a 40-year-old bachelor who owes nothing to anyone. She is a terrible housekeeper and spends most of her time painting. Over time, she wins his heart. When they realize people will actually buy her cards and paintings, he supports and encourages her. Maud’s determination for her art, along with her partnership with Everett (Ethan Hawke), blossoms into a career as a famous folk artist.

The Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD of MAUDIE include a director commentary and a special feature called “Inside The Story” in which filmmakers and cast provide insight into their experience of bringing this awe-inspiring folk artist’s unlikely story of love and success to life.  The piece also includes archival images of Maud and Everett in their Nova Scotia home.
DVD also includes thirteen deleted scenes and a stunning montage of Director, Aisling Walsh’s “Look Book” filled with images she collected as inspiration for the film.
Exclusively to iTunes, viewers can see a documentary called Telescope: Maud Lewis featuring interviews with the artist and a photo gallery featuring images from inside Maud’s small Nova Scotia home.
