Last week we dropped by Elyx house (our favorite CEO’s apartment slash “US Brand Home” to Absolut’s Elyx brand vodka) for a special cocktail tasting party sponsored by Elyx and virtual nutrition counseling company Tovita Nutrition.
Tovita’s co-founders, Leah Silberman and Molly Rieger, challenged Eylx’s mixologists to make delicious cocktails using wholesome ingredients in an attempt to make imbibing a bit more healthy and invited some special guests to test the resulting three cocktails. First up was the Citrea: a refreshing mix of Elyx vodka and fresh pineapple, tangerine and lemon juice, topped with bee pollen and a lavender frond. While this was perhaps the most classically delicious cocktail, the remaining cocktails better showcased the skill of Elyx’s mixologists – their ability to make amazing drinks out of unsual health foods.
I was looking for a drink that would get me my day’s serving of vegetables, and Dulcedo, the second drink, fit the bill with its beet juice base, along with sherry, grapefruit, and a touch of antibacterial Manuka honey. Finally, there was the Virdiris, a strong mix of Elyx and matcha (which I learned is a concentrated green tea that uses the entire leaf and is rich in antioxidants), served up.
After ample time to imbibe, the guests voted on the favorite drink – the winning cocktail to be featured at Meatpacking club Nighty Night!
But our night wasn’t over yet – we then dropped by the offices of multi-platform video and music network Music Choice for an exclusive preview of their “MC 100” annual top 100 song countdown. We promised not to reveal the winners, so the only way to find out who made the list is to watch the countdown when it premieres November 24th on Music Choice Play or November 27th on Music Choice Video on Demand.
