Viola Is Not Only The Queen Of The Night She Is Our Queen Always

The Chaplin Awards is a prestigious award gala that began back in 1972. It is one of the key fundraising events for the Film at Lincoln Center.

Each year they honor and award hard working and phenomenal actors that we all know and love. They have awarded legends such as Tom Hanks, Sidney Poitier, Meryl Streep, and now Viola Davis. Following so many of her incredibly talented peers, Viola has now become the 48th Chaplin Award Gala recipient as of Monday April, 24, 2023.

As a recent EGOT winner, it’s fair to say that Viola is in her season and we love to see it. Reaching EGOT status is not an easy accomplishment to obtain, but Queen Viola did it. During the Chaplin Award red carpet, I had an opportunity to catch up with Viola and  ask her how she felt about winning an EGOT, and now being honored by such a prestigious award like The Chaplin Awards. She responds “You don’t know a person’s journey. You see the destination. You see them basking in all the glory. You imagine what the journey is, but my journey was so many rocks, and bricks and stones and obstacles and I was able to hit it; and it goes to show you that life sometimes is magic!”

Life is indeed as Queen Viola says “sometimes magic”. It goes to show you that no matter how hard life gets, if you keep the faith you can always find a way, and that is exactly what Viola has done and continues to do. She shares pieces of her hardships from her life on the big screens, time and time again. Watching Viola in action is like leaving a therapy session with all of your problems solved. She gives everything in that moment and leaves nothing behind.

I am so happy to witness Viola’s career expand because she is completely deserving. Make sure you check the full exclusive interview with the 48th Chaplin Award Gala recipient Viola Davis. Gems were dropped and inspiration filled the air. Long may she reign, Queen Viola Davis.
