Exclusive: Anna Kendrick, William Jackson Harper & More Talk ‘Season 2’ of HBO Max’s ‘Love Life’ [Video]
As the cast of the HBO Max Original Love Live descended onto the red carpet of the DGA Theater in New York City to celebrate the release of season 2, the excitement was clear. Smiling faces and camera flashes were a welcome return to normalcy as part of the Tribeca Fall Preview. Of course, the Knockturnal was there to cover it all! If you missed season one, starring Anna Kendrick, don’t worry. Season two is in the same universe, but a completely different storyline starring Emmy nominee and executive producer William Jackson Harper.
Harper plays Marcus Watkins, a man working in publishing whose marriage unexpectedly implodes. Marcus is forced to rebuild his life brick by brick, hoping to find a love that will last. The season leans into the mess of what dating is really like, the good, the bad, and the ugly. It even explores issues of race and dating interracially. On that issue Williams says, “We did think it was very important to be as authentic as possible, but also Marcus is just Marcus and what really comes through in the first episode is the pressure that black people are under just by existing. He wants to do well at his job, he has these ideas, so we throw a lot of Marcus in the first episode because it’s really showing what it’s like to be a black professional. We wanted to do it in a nuanced way.”
On the red carpet, Harper was joined by his co-stars Jessica Williams, Punkie Johnson and Chris “Comedian CP” Powell. Anna Kendrick also made a surprise appearance as well as Janet Hubert, Arian Moayed, and John Earl Jelks. Showrunners Sam Boyd, Bridget Bedard, and Rachelle Williams also joined in the celebrations alongside the legend, Executive Producer Paul Feig.
The 10 episode season is now streaming on HBO Max.
Last week, The Knockturnal sat down with Director James Kapner and writer/lead Chris Baker to talk about their psychosexual thriller, ‘The Estate’.
The film Antlers was recently released in theaters nationwide on October 29, 2021.
Time to get this party startled! ?
Kiernan Shipka stars in the first podcast movie from C13Features podcast movie studio titled Treat! Treat is a 90-minute podcast… movie about two teenage siblings dealing with a dysfunctional household on top of a spooktacular Halloween legend. Creepin’ it real, the script is super scary. But in the most fun way!
If you’re asking yourself, “What is a podcast movie?” You’re not alone. It’s a newer entertainment medium based on one of Hollywood’s earliest pursuits, radio shows! Think Lucille Ball in My Favorite Husband (pre I Love Lucy.)
Convenient and fun, just pop in your AirPods and close your eyes. You will escape to a sleepy little town where everybody knows your name and Halloween is the perfect excuse to eat, drink, and be scary. Kiernan narrates as character Allie West. When she’s not dodging the school bully, she’s avoiding mummy or mommy of the year. Her Mom has been a hot mess ever since their father left and Allie has taken on more responsibility. Little did she know, someone… or something has other plans for her.
Kiernan tells The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield that navigating acting throughout a podcast movie can be quite ghoul-ing but she enjoyed the exercise. Overall, she found the experience fa-BOO-lous!
Accompanying Kiernan, Treat features David Shih, Noah Robbins, Marc Menchaca, Kyle Beltran, Peggy J. Scott, Christa Scott-Reed, Ryan Buggle, Sara Echeagaray, Bill Lobley, Renata Friedman, Marin Ireland, and Wayne Knight.
Listen to Kiernan Shipka’s Treat whenever you get your podcasts on October 25, 2021! Happy Halloween! ?

Exclusive: The Fifth and Final Season of Insecure Kicks Off with a Party on a Mountaintop [Video]
It’s the Five-nal countdown! Insecure’s fifth and final season is airing on HBO, and the cast and creators celebrated with a jumpin party in legendary Kenneth Hahn park.
It was an emotional night, but only a little. Because for the most part we were all there to enjoy this wonderful universe Issa Rae created, and to eat tray after tray of shrimp and grits. Like a medically unadvisable amount.
The carpet was glamorous as hell, the shows’ stars absolutely flexing on the jeans-and-jacket media. It was a couture affair, babe, and I lived for it.
Issa and executive producer Prentice Penny introduced a pair of episodes that were as funny and fantastic as any the show has produced. On each of our seats was a lil ‘Insecure’ tote and blanket, which came in handy on this brisk night.
The post-screening party was so freaking incredible. We danced for hours on top of a mountain, enjoying food and custom cocktails. The cast was fuggin it up to the djs buoyant and brilliant soundtrack, as we all marveled and practiced our collective stanky leg.
I made something like 47 friends at this function, and posed for professional photos with a backdrop, and then blurry photos in the bathroom smiling at my goofy lil face.
The art direction and design of the space was breathtaking and very nostalgic, with key moments from the series blown up and framed. I realized I’d grown so much in my time watching the show, mirroring the emotional growth of the characters. What a special night, what a special show.
Taylor Sele was still on set, in the middle of filming, when he stepped away for our quick interview.
