Exclusive: Hannah Einbinder, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, & Jen Statsky Talk HBO Max’s ‘Hacks’ [Video]
In this exclusive interview with The Knockturnal, Hannah Einbinder, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky discuss season two of HBO Max’s Hacks with The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield.
Emmy winner Hacks took award season by storm last year! Season one followed two struggling comedians played by Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder – that initially clash but learn to lean on one another. Season two shakes things up with the same characters we know in love but with a ROAD TRIP, a cruise, and Antiques Roadshow… literally!
After getting kicked to the curb by her Las Vegas residency, Smart’s character, Deborah Vance, decides to take her show on the road! A weary Ava (Einbinder) is recruited to join her and all hell breaks loose when a hurtful secret is revealed.
Season two seems to pay more attention to the people in the perimeter of Deborah Vance’s life… and we will never ever complain about more Kayla vs. Jimmy! Kayla is played by Instagram goddess Megan Stalter while co-creator Paul W. Downs plays Hollywood agent (with a heart!), Jimmy. Their joy is infectious! Despite mostly being at war on camera! How much trouble do these two get into? Find out in the interview above!
Mark Indelicato plays Damien – who hits the road with Deborah and Ava. He’s the ride or die you want by your side and tells it like it is. Meanwhile, Carl Clemons-Hopkins is Marcus… Deborah’s right-hand man suffering from a case of all business… no pleasure. Marcus struggles to navigate between working hard and finding time to treat himself! Mark and Carl discuss their cover of Out Magazine, K9 co-workers, and so much more in the interview above.
Plus! Hannah Einbinder, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky talk cool celebrity endorsements and thrifting!

David Hyde Pierce, Bebe Neuwirth, Brittany Bradford, Fran Kranz, Fiona Glascott, Chris Keyser, & Daniel Goldfarb Talk ‘Julia’ [VIDEO]
David Hyde Pierce, Bebe Neuwirth, Brittany Bradford, Fran Kranz, Fiona Glascott, Chris Keyser, and Daniel Goldfarb discuss HBO Max’s latest gem, Julia, with The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield.
Julia Child once said, “A party without cake is just a meeting.” (What about a junket?)
She also once said, “With enough butter, anything is good.” But what about… “I think every woman should have a blowtorch.” Julia Child was an ambitious self-starter with big dreams, a naughty sense of humor, and a lust for life! And her husband! No wonder HBO Max was inspired to develop Julia, starring Sarah Lancashire, David Hyde Pierce, Bebe Neuwirth, Brittany Bradford, Fran Kranz, and Fiona Glascott!
Sarah Lancashire (Last Tango in Halifax) has been so highly celebrated for this performance with critics debating how she managed to sincerely capture the essence of one of the world’s most famous (and quirkiest) chefs.
David Hyde Pierce (Frasier) plays Julia’s artistic husband, Paul Child, who is reluctant to adapt to this new outlet known as “television.” The two are madly, passionately in love, and between her sneaky pursuits at TV stardom and his hesitation, there are some serious old school I Love Lucy vibes. However, Paul champions for his wife in such a romantic and protective way that you will stand on your couch screaming, “Chivalry is not dead, people!” Despite… Julia… taking place in the 1960’s.
Get to know the cast’s first impressions and memories of Julia Child, their reaction to Sarah’s performance, and the real people behind the characters they play, in the interview above.

Exclusive: Amy Schumer, Michael Cera, Kevin Kane, Yamaneika Saunders, Lavar Walker, Laura Benanti, and Violet Young Talk ‘Life & Beth’ [VIDEO]
Amy Schumer, Michael Cera, Kevin Kane, Yamaneika Saunders, Lavar Walker, Laura Benanti, and Violet Young talk to The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield about Hulu’s original dramedy, Life & Beth.
Like so many creatives during the pandemic, Amy Schumer used her downtime to reflect and to create and the result of that reflection is Hulu’s latest dramedy, Life & Beth. Originally titled Love Beth, based on the concept of Amy going back and reading her old journals as a teenager, Life & Beth revolves around a woman that should technically be happy with her life… but isn’t. She has an amazing boyfriend… no, “parter,” a financially enriching job that involves copious glasses of wine… a luxury apartment in New York… and a fierce set of girlfriends. As Beth navigates where her unhappiness stems from, you revisit her childhood and how those moments affect who she is today. (Shout out to Michael Rapaport who plays Beth’s very sweet and helpless father.)
There is no lack of handsome on the screen as Beth fights to find her happy place. Jonathan Groff , who is single-handedly the reason that I still watch Glee reruns, plays an Instagram-perfect hook up with a dark secret. Her boyfriend/fiance (played by Kevin Kane) is totally adorable in a Kevin from The Office sort of way. Speaking of The Office, Michael Cera’s John in Life & Beth just might be the best mix of Dwight Schrut and Michael Scott the world has ever seen.
Life & Beth is not what you would typically expect from Schumer. The series is very sweet and vulnerable and certainly a project that the comedian should be proud of. I’m especially a fan of the way that Amy portrays adult female friendships and the importance of family and forgiveness.
You can stream Amy Schumer’s Life & Beth on Hulu beginning March 18, 2022.

Exclusive: Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, Scott Eastwood, Gina Rodriguez, Manny Jacinto & Clark Backo Talk ‘I Want You Back’ [VIDEO]
Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, Scott Eastwood, Clark Backo, Gina Rodriguez, and Manny Jacinto discuss Amazon Video’s rom-com, I Want You Back.
Whether it’s The Jackson 5 or NSYNC, we’ve all cranked the radio up and belted out “I want you back!” hitting octaves that only a dog would recognize as a whistle. Now it’s not just your favorite song… it can be your favorite movie too!
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Charlie Day and Jenny Slate star opposite each other in Amazon’s latest love story. Watch as the scorned lovers strategize the takedown of their ex’s new relationships. Together they are funny, charming, and romantic! Day told The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield that he hoped he and Slate could become the next Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. BOX-OFFICE-POWER-COUPLE!
The supporting cast is just as amazing with superstars like Scott Eastwood, Clark Backo, Gina Rodriguez, and Manny Jacinto. Eastwood plays Slate’s ex who is body-conscious but sweet, his new girlfriend is a pie shop owner played by Backo. Together they are #couplegoals. Rodriguez plays Day’s ex-girlfriend who has recently fallen in love with a teacher at her school, Jacinto. They have become “Instagram official” leaving Day’s character reeling.
If you weren’t sold by Valentine’s Day with Charlie Day, what about Mr. Steal Yo Girl, Pete Davidson? Davidson has a hilarious cameo that involves a hot tub. The OC‘s Ben McKenzie also surprises audiences as an angry Dad… giving us major Sandy Cohen vibes. But it’s one Hollywood icon’s brief appearance that gave us all a thrill… thespian Nicolas Cage. Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, Scott Eastwood, Clark Backo, Gina Rodriguez, and Manny Jacinto (enthusiastically) share their favorite Nic Cage movies in the video above.
Stream I Want You Back on Amazon Prime February 11th.

Exclusive: Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Kenneth Branagh, Jude Hill, & Ciaran Hinds Talk ‘Belfast’ [VIDEO]
Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Sir Kenneth Branagh, Jude Hill, and Ciaran Hinds attend the premiere of the Belfast movie at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, California on Monday.
You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll cheer as it wins all of the trophies next award show season!
Watch the interview above.
Set in the late 1960s, Belfast is a semi-autobiographical tale from Sir Kenneth Branagh that explores the life of a/his charming working-class family during The Troubles in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Belfast‘s Los Angeles premiere saw most of the stars walk the red carpet with the exception of Dame Judi Dench. PS. We missed you!
Bite-size star Jude Hill plays a young Sir Kenneth Branagh in the film and walked the carpet with a beautiful mystery blonde… ok, it was his Mom but she was still beautiful and mysterious. Jude was 9 when he landed the life-changing role. He’s 11 now. A man. Jude told The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield that he was initially a little nervous to work with Kenneth but the Harry Potter star turned out to be “such a nice guy.” I can concur!
Upon mention of a recent Variety article comparing Branagh to Walt Disney, George Clooney, and Warren Beatty, the writer/director responds, “It’s beautifully insane!”
Ciaran Hinds, who is also from Belfast, discusses what he discovered about his own family tree and what it’s like to recreate someone that someone else once loved. Hinds seemed most excited for American audiences to get a peek at the Belfast movie!
Last but not least, we ask Caitriona Balfe and Jamie Dornan what it is like to recreate someone’s life in front of them… plus we check on Jamie’s wifi situation.
YOU GET AN OSCAR, YOU GET AN OSCAR, YOU GET AN OSCAR.
Belfast is in theaters on November 12, 2021, and stars Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Jude Hill, Judi Dench, and Ciaran Hinds.

Exclusive: Kristen Bell & Kirby Howell-Baptiste Talk ‘Queenpins’ [Video]
Have you ever felt flooded with guilt for immediately unsubscribing from a mailing list after utilizing the coupon code that you got for subscribing to their mailing list?
If the answer is yes then expect to experience a rollercoaster of emotions while watching Kristen Bell and Kirby Howell-Baptiste in Queenpins. Queenpins is based on a real-life multimillion-dollar criminal couponing bust that happened in Phoenix, Arizona. (Kirby’s got love for Phoenix, literally! Watch the interview to find out why. 😍)
It was a brazen scheme. $25 million in counterfeit coupons. Can they get away with it?
Kristen Bell tells The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield, this is one of those unique films where you actually end up rooting for the good girls gone bad. She explains, “What excited me so much about the movie was, it is a dream come true to receive a script that the cover page says, ‘Based on true events.’ Because, you know, humanity is often stranger than fiction.”
“By the time they start their illegal empire, you are 100% on the side of the criminals and I think that’s rare that a movie can accomplish that.”
Both certified saints, Kirby and Kristen fess up to teenage naughtiness! “Have you ever taken anything that doesn’t belong to you?” Asks Kinsey, “Yes, not from another person!” insists Kirby. “No, but like, in high school… for sure,” admits Kristen.
“I guess, maybe, because I’m so scared of breaking the rules in real life, that I kind of like doing movies about breaking the rules,” Kristen tells The Knockturnal.
Kirby and Kristen talk Queenpins, Dateline, and dance contests in the interview above. Enjoy!
Queenpins stars Kristen Bell, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Bebe Rexha, Dayo Okeniyi, Joel McHale, Paul Walter Hauser, and Vince Vaughn, and premieres in theaters on September 10th, 2021.
