Ana de la Reguera is not afraid to be embarrassed. 

In fact, she made an entire television show putting her embarrassing moments on full display.

The pilot begins with Ana being born to an audience of gynecologist students. According to her, it’s a true story….mostly. The series is full of truths, half-truths and stretched truths from the Mexican-born actress’ life. She’s not shy with giving the gory details, in either the show or in the interview. It’s chock-full of TMI. The show is funny, provocative, poignant and above all always true to Ana — from the silly to serious moments.

De la Reguera has a storied career as both a telenovela and Hollywood star, known to American audiences for her roles in “Narcos,” “Goliath” and “Nacho Libre.” Her fictionalized self in “Ana” navigates her career in film and personal life both North and South of the border.

She talked to the Knockturnal about drawing from personal experiences, being vulnerable, producing a bilingual show, representing LGBT characters, the impact of social media, shooting and living in both the US and Mexico, her favorite places to eat in Mexico and much more.

The second season of “Ana” kicked off July 22. It is available for streaming on Amazon Prime.

Exclusive: Ashanti Talks Her First Kids’ Book and Celebrating 20 Years in the Music Business [Video]

Besides being a Grammy-winning artist and actress, Ashanti is now a published children’s book author. Ashanti spoke exclusively with the Knockturnal about her first kid’s book, “My Name is a Story.”

Inspired by her own struggles growing up, Ashanti was questioned and teased about the pronunciation and meaning of her name.“I know I’m not the only one who’s gone through that,” says Ashanti. “It’s about empowering kids to be confident in the fact that you may have a unique and different name.” The singer hopes to encourage children to appreciate and celebrate who they are and the history behind their name.

Ashanti also spoke about celebrating the 20 year anniversary of her debut album. The artist was first discovered as a teenager and later signed to Murder Inc. Ashanti recorded hit duets with Ja Rule, from the No. 1 hit “Always on Time” (2001) to the No. 2 hit “Mesmerize” (2003). Earlier this year, Ashanti received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “It’s such a surreal feeling…there’s a piece of history that’s there with my name on it,” says Ashanti. The singer also shared that she’s gearing up to release new music soon.

Exclusive: “Where the Crawdads Sing” Cast Talks reaction to film at NY Premiere [video]

Where the Crawdads Sing is a New York Times Best Seller, selling over 12 million, is now a film!

Set in North Carolina in the 1960’s the film depicts the story of “Kya” played by Daisy Eager-Jones, as she stands trial for the murder of a handsome man, Chase, played by Harris Dickerson. The murder mystery film tells the story through Kya’s eyes, which is captured with flashbacks.

The Knockturnal spoke with the stars of the film at the premier of Where the Crawdads Sing, and their perspective of the film. Main character Daisy Eager-Jones says her take away from reading the screener was the resilience of her character, “I think I was so incredibly moved by how incredibly resilient Kya is as a character.” Eager-Jones says “She suffers a lot, but she keeps going and she remains hopeful for something better”.

Logan Macre, who plays Jodie, said that his reaction was “hopeful” when he began reading the screener for the film. “You just want everything great to happen to Kya, you know?” says Macre “You feel for this girl the entire time and you’re like ‘please something amazing happen to you’[..] it takes a very long time, but when it finally does, you’re [Kya] so deserving of it because you’re such a resilient individual”.
