Exclusive: Stars of Hulu’s “Ramy” Unpack Season 3

by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete September 30, 2022
written by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete

Season 3 of Hulu’s Ramy is set to be released on September 30th, and we sat down with stars May Calamawy, Hiam Abbass, and Laith Nakli to chat all about it.

Laith Nakli who portrays Uncle Nasseem in the Hulu series promises growth for his character. He also adds that he loves that Uncle Nasseem is a multi-dimensional character, despite how you may feel about him. “There’s a moment of hope towards the end of the season…so maybe it’s a seed for the future and finding peace.”

Season 3 picks up where season 2 left off back in 2020. This season, The Hassan family is collectively struggling with financial hardship and other issues in season 3. Ramy is focused on gaining business for his Uncles’ jewelry store and they even make a hilarious commercial for it, which Laith notes as a highlight of filming during season 3. “There was so much improvisation in that, I don’t even know what was scripted and what was wasn’t…it’s like the tackiest commercial ever but it was so good, it was so funny!”

May Calamawy shared Deena’s focus this season is on passing the bar to support her family. Dena suggests potentially selling the family home and moving into separate apartments. Hiam Abbass added, “everybody in this season is struggling and the whole family is struggling together.”

Tribeca 2022: ‘Jerry and Marge Go Large’ Premieres at Tribeca

by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete June 21, 2022
written by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete

One of the most kindhearted true tales to come out of the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival is the true story of Jerry and Marge Go Large.

Led by Bryan Cranston and Anette Benning as none other than Jerry and Marge Selbee, respectively. After being forced to retire from his decade-long factory job, Jerry figured out a legal loophole in the lottery system that grabs his attention as he and Marge try and win all the marbles. A statistic lover’s dream, the Winfall machines led Jerry to discover the mathematical flaw in the game that meant guaranteed winnings if enough tickets were bought. And boy did Jerry purchase thousands – quite literally.

Jerry soon realizes there’s a lot more where that came from, and his wife Marge supports him throughout and soon joins in on the fun along with their friends in town. At the same time, a student at Harvard University finds out and join in on Jerry and Marge’s game, but you’ll have to watch it to find out who went large.

The film was directed by David Frankel (Marley & Me, The Devil Wears Prada) and successfully delivered another feel-good drama that leaves any viewer with a smile throughout the course of the film. Bryan Cranston and Annette Benning share undeniable chemistry. Rainn Wilson (The Office) also stands out as the convenience store employee who appears to be playing a merge of Dwight Schrute and himself in the film.

We were at the Tribeca Film Festival Premiere of the film where we talked with Larry Wilmore who stars as Jerry’s accountant. Catch the story here!

Jerry and Marge Go Large is Now Streaming on Paramount+!

Giuliana and Bill Rancic Host The Pink Agenda’s Virtual Gala, Raising Over $275,000

by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete October 10, 2021
written by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete

The Pink Agenda held their annual gala virtually this past Thursday night to raise money, and awareness for breast cancer research and grant wishes to people living with breast cancer and undergoing treatment. The event was hosted by breast cancer survivor and television personality Giuliana Rancic and her husband, Bill Rancic.

The gala was informative and powerful, with many breast cancer survivors taking part in the virtual event. Being that the event was virtual, it allowed many people from coast to coast to unite for a good cause.

The gala opened with introductions from prominent celebrities and voices. It featured special guest appearances by Melissa Joan Hart, Ryan Seacrest, Taylor Lautner, and many others, including a musical performance by Katie Gavin of MUNA. Some speakers bravely shared their own personal journey with breast cancer while also raising awareness of the disease.

What makes The Pink Agenda’s Gala stand out every year is its generosity in granting wishes to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. The Pink Agenda has been partnered with Giuliana’s initiative, FAB-U-WISH, since 2014. FAB-U-Wish and TPA have been working together to grant wishes to over 325 women so far, shared Giuliana.

This year, wishes were granted to two women, each of whom shared their story from diagnosis through treatment and into recovery. One recipient was granted a future shopping spree, while the other was surprised with home renovations, both on behalf of Kendra Scott.

The night was a huge success with more, than 550 people attendees present and collectively raising a total of $275,000.

Exclusive: Jason Isaacs and Fran Kranz on Powerful New Film, ‘Mass’ [VIDEO]

by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete October 8, 2021
written by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete

Fran Kranz makes his directorial debut in the emotionally charged new drama, ‘Mass.’ The film centers on two couples, Jay (Jason Isaacs) and Gail (Martha Plimpton) and Richard (Reed Birney) and Linda (Ann Dowd) as they revisit a tragic mass school shooting that changed the course of their lives immensely.

The film takes place over essentially one long scene that extends throughout the entirety of the film. It allows for a raw journey of healing between the two couples as they attempt to revisit and process what happened on that tragic day. Exceptional performances are given by both Plimpton and Isaacs and Birney and Dowd and keep the audiences reeling as the events on that day are unraveled.

On playing such an emotionally charged character and working alongside Martha Plimpton, Isaacs said, “to be given a character as rich and complicated as [Jay] was an amazing gift and of course Martha is the best dance partner you could ever hope for. I just looked at her and she grounded me.”

Director Fran Kranz also wrote the screenplay to the film in response to the many mass shootings that happen in the United States particularly. “I’m witnessing the frequency of these events in our country. I had to confront those feelings again. I had to think of what would happen, can I move forward? Is it possible? And that’s what I wanted to write about.”

‘Mass’ is in select theaters beginning on October 8th.

Exclusive: Inside Netflix’s “Viva Las Vengeance: Army of The Dead” VR Experience

by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete September 4, 2021
written by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete

A new immersive VR experience is making its way around the country and it’s none other than ‘Viva Las Vengeance: Army of the Dead.’ The VR experience is based on Zach Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ Netflix film which was released in May of 2021 that follows a group of mercenaries who attempt a casino heist amid a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. The film became one of the most-watched original Netflix films with over 75 million viewers over the first four weeks in addition to a limited theatrical run. After a successful LA run, the VR experience, ‘Viva Las Vengeance: Army of the Dead’ opens to the New York area in Paramus NJ on September 8th.

Army of the Dead VR Experience

Army of the Dead VR ExperienceIn the ‘Viva Las Vengeance: Army of the Dead’ VR experience, mercenaries in groups of 2-6 embark on a rescue mission in a Sin City taco truck similar to the one in the film. Before you board the truck, you can select your avatar and weapon loadout and then head to the briefing room and are given your mission objective: to fight through hundreds of Shamblers (zombies) in order to rescue stranded civilians.

The ‘Viva Las Vengeance’ experience gives guests a phenomenal immersive experience with a truly realistic feel from the mixed reality technology. From the shaking of the truck, wind in the air, the vibration from your weapon, and more, guests can expect to feel every twist and turn. After completing your mission you can then take a commemorative photo at the photo booth and head over to Sin City tacos.

The ‘Viva Las Vengeance: Army of the Dead’ experience by Netflix runs in partnership with Pure Imagination Studios, Fever, and The Stone Quarry. The experience is scheduled to run in the New York metro area until October and will then run in Vegas and continue to tour through the US in multiple cities.

Tickets start at just $24, making it a great adventure for friends and families. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit armyofthedeadvr.com.

Exclusive: Rebecca Hall and Cast Talk ‘The Night House’ At New York Premiere [VIDEO]

by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete August 13, 2021
written by Ashlee Dell’Arciprete

The upcoming psychological horror film ‘The Night House,’ Directed by David Bruckner, held its New York Premiere Wednesday night at the Cinépolis Chelsea theater. Rebecca Hall, Evan Jonigkeit, Vondie Curtis-Hall, screenwriter Ben Collins, and composer Ben Lovett were in attendance at the premiere.

David Bruckner’s latest film centers on Beth (Rebecca Hall) after the sudden and shocking loss of her late husband Owen (Evan Jonigkeit) to suicide and the disturbing visions and presence that follows. Beth very much still feels the strong presence of her husband in the maze-like house he built. Through each loud jump scare, audiences get to experience each chilling moment along with Beth as she uncovers the maze.

On playing Beth, Rebecca Hall said, “it was a challenge that I relished and enjoyed a lot.”

“She’s not your average horror heroine. She’s got a lot of anger, and she’s very confrontational, and she’s willing to get frightened, which I think makes her quite precarious and interesting,” said Hall.

On his ominous presence throughout the film, Evan Jonigkeit (Owen) shared that he wanted to “let the audience have the cerebral experience that I think the films’ intention is.”

Since its premiere at Sundance, many have praised the films’ score. Composer Ben Lovett shared that “what I do like about composing for horror is it’s the one genre of movie that pretty much exercises all of the human emotions within a 90-minute movie.”

‘The Night House’ is in theaters August 20.
