“Music doesn’t need cognac to exist, and cognac doesn’t need music, but that’s the beauty of it, they were meant to meet.”
Legendary Grammy-Award-winning artist Usher has recently partnered with Rémy Martin to create a cinematic short film about Music and Cognac, titled, “Team Up For Excellence – The Film.” The film explores the various influences that Cognac has had in Music, looking into the genres of blues, jazz, and hip hop.
This film showcases the heart and soul of these music genres, demonstrating how Cognac has helped so many artists and cultural figures reach for the stars and achieve their dreams. Even better is how Usher and Rémy Martin®1738 Accord Royal actually travel through time in France and the US, starting from the 1920s and end in present-day, giving viewers all the context and information they need to see how Music and Cognac go hand in hand. And what makes this film fun is how each decade has their own rhythm, sound, and dance that is showcased and narrated. Viewers not only get to see and hear dance genres like swing and jazz but also get to see and watch Usher narrate the entire thing.
The production is brought to life by globally recognized creatives including world-renowned musical composer, Raphael Saadiq; Academy-Award winning costume stylist, Marci Rodgers; award-winning dance choreographer, Aakomon Jones; and director, Jake Nava.
And what makes this collaboration even better is knowing the impact that Rémy Martin has had in general. For almost 300 years, Rémy Martin has been the premiere Cognac brand. Having a mentality of teamwork and collaboration at the heart of the brand, it makes sense to showcase the impact that Cognac and Music have had on each other.
