During the 28th Annual American Black Film Festival, The Knockturnal attended the Black Excellence Brunch in Chotto Miami hosted by Trell Thomas (Founder/CEO).
The family-style brunch was created in honor of his family doing Sunday Dinners back home in South Carolina. Here are the top three reasons why the Black Excellent Brunch is a hit:

1. Honoring
The brunch is known for honoring talent in the industry, recognizing their hard work and celebrating their many achievements. This week’s brunch focused on celebrating Singer/Songwriter & Actress Andra Day for her lead role in Lee Daniels new film – The Deliverance. The brunch attendees received a surprise virtual greeting from Andra Day expressing her gratitude to Lee Daniels for her role. Shortly after, we got the chance to see an exclusive clip from the film.

2. The Vibes
The brunch served family-style meals at each table with a variety food options for everyone to eat. Not only did the music set the tone of the atmosphere but the attention to detail gave the entire experience a unique touch. There were many fun photo ops like champagne being served through a grass wall (which stole the show).
3. Connecting
The Black Excellence brunch was a great place to network and mingle with other industry professionals, creatives, and influencers. The environment truly felt like a family reunion!
The Deliverance releases on Netflix Friday, August 30th.
