On Thursday, July 16, TNT hosted a special virtual screening of the first episode of season 2 of “The Alienist: Angel of Darkness.”
Guests were shipped some treats from Taste Catering and Event Planning like a chocolate fudge brownie with walnuts, matcha shortbread pocky, brown sugar nut mix and Old Bay Shrimp Chips. Principal Bar-Tender and Cocktail Impresario “Bobby Blue” from Delmonico’s sent over a fab recipe book for guests to mix cocktails with Old Forester 1897 ‘Bottled In Bond’ Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and passion syrup. Death & Co’s mixologists, including NY Head Bartender, Shannon Tebay, crafted ten exclusive cocktails inspired by the three main characters in the drama. Three of the cocktails, Sara’s Evening Ritual, Moore’s Lemonade, and Kreizler’s Glass, earned spots on the menu at Death & Co’s Denver location for a limited time.
Guests were also sent a second box with tools and clues to solve a post-screening virtual Whodunnit? game produced by Little Cinema. Some of the items provided included a quill pen, magnifying glass, a compass, a notebook full of clues, newspaper clippings, and a Delmonico’s matchbox, to name a few. TNT has teamed up with the iconic luxury institution, Bergdorf Goodman, to create a curated selection of merchandise inspired by the show’s award-winning period costume design. Fans nationwide can immerse themselves in the series by shopping the merchandise online, and local New Yorkers can visit the flagship store to see a custom The Alienist: Angel of Darkness themed window display starting July 25. D.S. & Durga released an exclusive unisex fragrance, FIRST LIGHT FIVE BOROUGHS, that captures NYC at the turn of the century through notes of mimosa, violet, and chypre. The scent will be available on dsanddurga.com and in a select number of retailers where D.S. & Durga is currently sold.
Cast Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans, and Dakota Fanning introduced the screening. Other cast members who attended the virtual premiere included Douglas Smith, Matthew Shear, Robert Ray Wisdom, Ted Levine, Melanie Field, and Rosy McEwen.
Consultant Darin Pfeiffer curated the VIP guest list to attend the virtual event in lieu of a traditional red carpet. Notable attendees included Angela Bassett and husband Courtney B. Vance, Doug Benson, Wayne Brady, Tom Cavanagh, Dexter Darden, David Dastmalchian, Daveed Diggs, Bradley Everett Young, Shiloh Fernandez, Colin Ford, Ashley Graham, Penn Jillette, Atandwa Kani, Peyton Kennedy, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Heather Matarazzo, Tristin Mays, Paola Nunez, Steven Ogg, Adina Porter, Mery Racauchi, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Alysia Reiner, Angelica Ross, Hannah Simone, Kia Stevens, Alisha Taneja, George Takei, Rumer Willis, Justin Willman, Nikki M. On the philanthropy front, TNT partnered with the historic dining institution Delmonico’s to open their kitchen for one day only to create and deliver meals specially prepared by their executive chef to hundreds of healthcare workers and the community that have been impacted by COVID-19. With the help of local partner Feed the Frontlines NYC, the meal deliveries featured a special three-course menu with select items featured on Delmonico’s menu since the 1890s. The signature dishes included the classic BLT wedge salad and original Delmonico’s steak and rice pudding cake. In support of both the July 16 and July 19 premiere events and to give back to the city that inspired the series, TNT will make a donation to the NYC Health + Hospitals Covid-19 fund and the Tenement Museum in Manhattan.
The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, with Anonymous Content’s Rosalie Swedlin, showrunner Stuart Carolan, director David Caffrey, writer Alyson Feltes, Pavlina Hatoupis, Ben Rosenblatt, Eric Roth, and Cary Joji Fukunaga serving as executive producers. In this new season of the show, which takes place in New York in 1897, Sara (Fanning) has opened her own private detective agency and is leading the charge on a brand-new case. She reunites with Dr. Kreizler (Brühl), the formidable alienist, and John Moore (Evans), now a New York Times reporter, to find Ana Linares, the kidnapped infant daughter of the Spanish Consular. Their investigation leads them down a sinister path of murder and deceit, heading towards a dangerous and elusive killer.
Little Cinema’s theatrical production will continue for a second run when consumers are invited to solve the mystery of “Who Killed Alejandro Valdez?” in a virtual pre-party leading into TNT’s two-hour premiere on July 19, while supplies last.
