There is nothing more festive than a Christmas Tree adorned with metro cards
Last week, the New York EDITION Hotel hosted a fabulous holiday party to celebrate the upcoming festivities. On top of that, we were able to see the unveiling of their 2022 Holiday Tree installation. The installation was created by Sarah Coleman who created installations for four EDITION properties. Coleman is a New York City visual based artist that takes inspiration from both luxury items as well as everyday items. Using nostalgia as one of the driving forces in their pieces, Coleman’s art can be viewed as giving ordinary objects a new life and a new light. The pieces were titled ‘A Holiday Nod to Nostalgia & Commodities’ and took inspiration from some of the local traditions and commodities that each hotel’s location brings. The New York EDITON tree featured ornaments that can only be described as a capsule of New York City. Featuring miniature knitted hats, pizza ornaments, the iconic NYC bodega coffee cup, and vintage metro cards.
The Times Square property will further highlight the neighborhood’s iconic Broadway scene, adding playbills and mini frames representing nearby art museums.
Heading to the warmer climates, The Miami Beach EDITION tree will be located inside Matador Bar and represent an ode to Miami as a tropical destination and fashion capital, featuring toy sports cars, cocktail umbrellas, mini pool inflatables and seashells.
And the tree at The West Hollywood EDITION features CDs and DVDs in an homage to the music and film industries, old Hollywood memorabilia, and figurines of iconic LA-style streetwear.
Furthermore, each property will introduce a Holiday punch, with a portion of the proceeds going to support Arts Ignite, who transform young people’s lives through the arts. The cocktail ‘Native Nostalgia’ will be served to share with loved ones from a punch bowl or individually, and combines Havana Club and Diplomatico Rum, Banane de Bresil, Amontillado, Brown Butter Syrup, Lemon, and Black Tea Bitters.
