The ’90s are having a resurgence, and that energy carried into the opening of The Moonlighters at One Art Space on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
On view from April 3 through April 12, the show brings that era into focus through a mix of pieces that feel both nostalgic and current. Located in TriBeCa, it’s open daily from 12pm to 6pm.
Created by Michael Fredo, a ’90s singer who once opened for Britney Spears, the exhibition centers on handcrafted clay figures that draw from personal ties and broader cultural references. That connection comes through in pieces featuring Tommy Hilfiger and Andy Hilfiger. Fredo is Tommy Hilfiger’s nephew, and both attended the opening. Elsewhere, a sculpture paired with a photograph of Princess Diana points to her lasting influence on style and image.

The figures consistently lean into exaggeration, with expressive faces and small details that give each one a distinct presence. The tone stays light, but there’s intention behind it, balancing humor with a clear sense of who these characters are meant to represent.
Central to the show is The Smile Collection, named after curator MaryAnn Giella McCulloh’s first reaction to Fredo’s work. It’s a fitting title; the pieces pull you in with something immediate and light.

For a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, it leaves a clear impression, offering something easy to step into and genuinely enjoyable.
