The spaniard family firm presented its 2016 collection of couture-like bridal gowns on October 10, at the landmark building 583 Park Avenue. The iconic venue provided a glorious space with exquisite chandeliers that added the extra touch of elegance to the beautiful gowns.
The collection used transparencies that created optical effects, delicate lace textures, and silk tailored as gauze. These three factors aided in elevating the classic fabrics from bridal tradition into presenting them in a modern light.
With classic instrumental tunes, the models swayed gracefully on the runway. All of them had romantic chignons and natural looking makeup.
We loved the Verda dress that featured transparent fabric with a nude backdrop, delicate lace strategically placed as if it were brush strokes on the models body, and a stunning tail with sparkly brocade.
All of the wedding dresses were extremely delicate and intricate enough without being over-the-top. It made us think about how could we manage to wear them for everyday situations. Maybe if we remove the veils and trains, we can wear one of them to the annual office party?
We can only dream right? What we are certain of is that after seeing this dreamlike collection, we know why Pronovias accounts for 88% of all wedding dresses exports from Spain which is the world’s leader exporter of the sector.
[slideshow]This season, Reem Acra, a Fashion Institute of Technology alumna and one of the top names in bridal design, opted for creating dresses for a young and hip clientele. Her fall 2016 collection specifically targeted the millennial bride.
As soon as we entered the room, we were welcomed by a guitar player and live tunes that served as the perfect background for what was to come.
Acra kept her signature embroideries, combining them with tulle, organza and crepe, and lace details. The variety in the fabrics and shades of color gave the modern bride a wide range of options to make her special day absolutely unique.
The collection emphasized in lightness, simpleness, and comfort. It was apparent that the today bride wants to feel comfortable and be able to enjoy her entire special day without worrying about the dress being an inconvenience. All of the models were enjoying themselves and having fun while they walked the runway. This reflected in the lightness of the dresses and how weddings are joyful occasions.
One of the dresses that we loved was the strapless siren dress with a delicate lace motif bodice and a splendid tulle tail. Not only did we love the details of the look, but also the adorable bejeweled headphones and matching selfie stick that adorned the whole ensemble. We know that most likely we won’t be walking down the isle with these accessories, but we would probably need a chic selfie stick like these to capture all of our favorite moments at the reception.
