As we reminisced over the NBA playoffs, we embraced the excitement and waved goodbye to the Sunday Scaries with the launch of BSB Whiskey, a collaboration between WES Brands and Jamie Foxx. BSB, with its tantalizing blend of cinnamon spice and brown sugar sweetness, came packaged in a striking matte black bottle, proudly sporting a glowing “BSB” chenille letter patch.
The whiskey brand ‘Orphan Barrel‘ launched a limited edition 18-year-old Straight Bourbon Whiskey and hosted a tasting event in NYC.
On Monday, April 17, we were invited to join in on the festivities at the New York City premiere of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer—and were encouraged to indulge in concoctions provided by Johnnie Walker.
Our evening of merrymaking started at the AMC Lincoln Square, where we were greeted with free popcorn and a soft drink—but that was only the first surprise of the evening. Cheers began to fill the room as Jerry Bruckheimer, Henry Cavill, Eiza González, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin walked down the theater aisles to introduce the film.
“As much as this movie is a lot of fun,” Cavill tells the audience, “it also highlights the importance of what these warriors did.”
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is fictionalized account—with many creative liberties—of Operation Postmaster during World War II. With tactics deemed “ungentlemanly” by Winston Churchill, a team of operatives embarked on a dangerous mission—and contributed to changing the course of the war.
“These types of female characters are inspiring, are what I think what embodies the 21st century woman,” Eiza González shared into the microphone, “I felt honored myself to be Marjorie Stewart.”
After the screening, guests were invited to attend the premiere after-party at the Ascent Lounge in Columbus Circle—presented by Johnnie Walker.
Jerry Bruckheimer joined the cast of the film for the festivities as a DJ spun tracks to set the vibe. Bartenders made splendid use of Johnnie Walker Blue Label with movie-inspired cocktails including The Strategist (the brand’s take on the trendy Espresso Martini) and The Saboteur (a twist on an Old Fashioned.)
Henry Cavill, Babs Olusanmokun, and Cary Elwes also mingled with guests and posed for selfies. Henry Golding even stopped by the bar to enjoy The Saboteur for himself.
How ungentlemanly indeed.

VIP notables included worldwide Mexican soccer star Javiar “Chicharito” Hernandez (LA Galaxy), actors Peter Facinelli, DeVaughn Nixon (Winning Time/Snowfall), Ross McCall, Brock O’Hurn, Cory George, Lorenzo Antonucci, UFC Champion MMA fighter Luke Rockhold, among several others at the intimate affair plus actress Candela Marquez and actress Chaley Rose who performed vocals set to a jazz band, along with Pink Floyd’s Scott Page on sax.
Only a handful of bottles of the Gordon & MacPhail’s Glen Grant 72yr old exist and it has been described as one of “the most historically significant whiskeys ever produced.” The total production was limited to 290 bottles, with 200 sold before in pre-allocation before release. The rare and highly collectible whisky, which was presented in a hand-cut crystal decanter, was sold alongside a single one-off NFT artwork and its original by celebrated political cartoonist Harry Harrison, entitled ‘Year of the Dram 1948’ commemorating 1948 [the year the whisky was made] on 20 May 2021 in Hong Kong for a record HK $937,500 (just under £95,000) including buyer’s premium. The current value for the Glen Grant 72 is listed as $126,666.00 for the 1000 ml bottle.
The evening took place poolside at the lavish grounds featuring Whiskey Cocktails by Old Glory, a distillery partner of CaskX, Aged Whisky Tastings by Glen Grant, Charcuterie, Caviar and Hors D’oeuvres, Musical Entertainment and custom decanter engraving under the moonlight.
One of the top whisky experts in the world Siddharth Sawkar, was on hand to offer a special tasting experience. Guests also were treated to a lavish charcuterie spread, custom whiskey mixology bar, and decadent caviar tasting bar by Golden Reserve Caviar. Siddharth Sawkar is a global whiskey expert and one of only nine Masters of Scotch currently recognized by the Council of Whiskey Masters. He is an avid collector of old and rare whiskeys, a leading presenter for the Los Angeles Whisky Club. Live music featured vocalist, actress Chaley Rose (Nashville), and Pink Floyd saxophonist Scott Page with tunes from a jazz band all evening featuring keyboard and strings.

Alberta Distillers announced the return of the famous Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye on October 12. A call for celebration, on October 20, the brand hosted an exclusive tasting with a twist: a fitting for custom jeans by FITTED Underground.
Made from 100% Canadian Prairie rye grains and brewed in glacier-fed spring waters from the Rocky Mountains, the elixer took the U.S. by storm in 2020. Since, the brand’s Cask Strength Rye has received serval awards including Double Gold at both the 2020 and 2021 SIP Awards and the San Francisco World Spirits Competitions.
The award winning booze was sampled in two drinks the evening of the 20th on the rooftop at Sunset Park’s Brooklyn Grange. A rustic “Old Fashion” with Angostura Bitters, and a light “Rosemary’s Baby” with organic cider. In between sampling, guests received the opportunity to customize their fantasy jeans down to the logo on the buttons. A simple, but luxurious process. Through the customization of jeans, guests were also receiving a sneak peak of the whisky making process; which like jeans, requires patience and great craftsmanship.
