Rod Blackhurst’s latest film, “Blood For Dust,” celebrated its World Premiere at Tribeca Festival in New York City on Sunday and we had the opportunity to chat with the cast and creators of the film. The film stars Scoot McNairy, Kit Harington, Josh Lucas, Ethan Suplee, Stephen Dorff, Nora Zehetner, and Amber Rose Mason.
“Blood For Dust” centers on Cliff (Scoot McNairy), a traveling salesman who is drowning under the pressure of providing for his family including his wife Amy (Nora Zehetner) and their sick son. With the weight of unfortunate circumstances on his shoulders, Cliff goes on quite a dangerous path after encountering Ricky (Kit Harington), who is Cliff’s former colleague from his dark past. Cliff agrees to partner with Ricky running cocaine across Montana and aims to get away from his situation clean in a business where it’s a nearly impossible feat to do so. Throughout the film, Cliff encounters some interesting people, to say the least, and it makes for an incredible story about family and the things we do to provide for the ones we love.
The Knockturnal had the opportunity to chat with stars of “Blood For Dust,” Ethan Suplee, Amber Rose Mason, and Nora Zehetner as well as Producer Noah Lang and phenomenal Director Rod Blackhurst who is also credited as executive producer and story writer.
Nora Zehetner shared how she felt so connected to her character, Amy. “I just felt like I knew her in my bones, like I grew up in Texas so I just–I understood who she was.” Producer Noah Lang also spoke with us on the long six-year journey of completing the film and premiering it at Tribeca, but it ultimately turned around once the stars of the film signed on. “When someone like a Kit Harington or Josh Lucas or Scoot McNairy or Stephen Dorf…when they start to buy in, you start to buy in you start to realize that you need to make it real. You can’t risk those things falling through.”
