Backstage At Marissa Webb’s Spring/Summer 2016 Presentation With TRESemmé
It’s the first day of New York Fashion Week, and we had access backstage for TRESemmé’s first show of the week for Marissa Webb.
Daniel Silverstain debuted his Spring/Summer Collection this Wednesday at Shop Studios, kicking off New York Fashion Week. The collection is inspired by futuristic elements combined with bold colors and interesting leathers from the World’s Fair of the 60’s. Held in Montreal, the Expo 67 was considered to be the most successful World’s Fair of the 20th century with record breaking attendance that brought in new innovations and exciting colors.
The runway was explosive with silver and rose gold metallics, combined with bandeau skirts and dresses. Primary colors were the emphasis of this collection with Red, Yellow, and Green. Highlights include a mid-century eyelet denim jacket with a pleated blouse, denim chino shorts and a copper metallic leather biker jacket with a double layer bandeau shirt, copper metallic weave leather culottes with a blue silk scarf.
We had the chance to go backstage and speak with Gina Edwards for KISS Products New York for nails and Janell Geason from Aveda Makeup:
Gina: Daniel Silverstain drew inspiration from the 60’s. The World Fair, in 1967, we had a lot of people come with new technology and a lot of new up and coming colors. We took a lot of primary colors which you’ll see in this collection and also he does metallics (rose gold, silver). So we brought a little bit of the silver in the nail, we used the Kiss Products Striping Tape to make a metallic nail and then we did the primary colors. We did the red, and the yellow accented. It’s very colorful, very inspiring so we wanted to make the nails and the collection cohesive. So we did the metallics with the green, some girls are wearing yellow, blue, it depends on the outfit they’re wearing.
Featured Products: •KISS 100 Full Cover Nails ($5.99/Rite Aid) •KISS Salon Secrets Nail Art Starter Kit ($9.99/Walgreens) •KISS Gel Strong Polish ($3.99/Kmart)
Janell: So the makeup is just really about a clean look, really clean luminous skin. It has a little bit of metallic and a lot of highlighting in there and a glossy lip, but more about just clean, clear skin.
