Teyana Taylor pays tribute to hometown of NYC for McDonald’s ‘Beat of My City’ concert
Born and bred New Yorker Teyana Taylor represented her city with pride for the McDonald’s ‘Beat of My City’ concert event this past Saturday. The nationwide tour, held in collaboration with Genius, sets up free shows for fans to see their favorite artists perform in their hometowns, and NYC’s Pier 36 was the first stop to kick everything off.

Known for their top of the line cotton and cotton-based products, Supima returnee to this years NYFW to host their design competition for the twelfth time. As it’s been since it starts in 2008, based on their collections, eight graduating senior designers had the opportunity to display their designs, made from Supima fabric, on the runway. This year it took place in Pier59 Studios’ Studio C. Gina Guo (ginaguo_) from Drexel University went home with the grand prize of $10k for her collection; a series of flowy, blue and coral-based pieces inspired by Australia’s coral reefs.

The Curly Girl Collective returned with the worlds largest annual natural beauty festival, Curl Fest, on July 27, 2019. Curl Fest began in 2014 the first held at Commodore Barry Park before moving to Prospect Park as it gained more popularity. This year, for the first time, the festival was held on Randalls Island after outgrowing Prospect Park due to its growing success.
Cult of Individuality celebrated ten years of success on July 23 at New York’s Stage 48. The celebration kicked off with DJ Nasty starting the party with all the latest and lots of tasty hors d’oeuvres. As soon as 9 p.m. hit, skater boy like models took the runway to show off the brands summer collection.
