We Check Out Rooftop Bar and Pickleball Court at M Social Hotel

On the rooftop of the M Social Hotel located at Times Square you can find the Beast and Butterflies bar. Overlooking New York City’s skyscrapers the rooftop oasis exudes an undeniable aura of vibrant positivity, relaxation, and community. Whether you head over with friends or family, you have a good time awaiting you! 

Recently, the rooftop bar has welcomed a newest addition to their space, a pickleball court in partnership with Grey Goose Vodka. Even if you aren’t a guest at the hotel and are just looking for a fun afternoon in New York City, this is the perfect spot for you. Their menu offers a variety of American Cuisine, the Grey Goose signature cocktail is a guest favorite, and you can challenge yourself and your peers to a friendly game of pickleball on their newly designed court! For only $40 per person, you can get treated to the Grey Goose Honey Deuce cocktail and a 45-minute slot to showcase your skills on the court. 

After my own visit to the bar, I found myself leaving the premises feeling overjoyed by my experience. Not being quite sure what to expect upon arrival, I walked away with my expectations being exceeded. I showed up on a solo date and found comfort in the energy of the staff and the other customers on the rooftop. In the midst of taking in the breathtaking views of New York City, I was approached by a kind woman who offered to participate in a game of pickleball, considering I didn’t have a partner to play with. After 2 long hours of a friendly game of pickleball I instantly reflected on the sense of community that I was able to find over at Beast and Butterflies rooftop bar. I had the opportunity to speak with the manager, Devon Tikku, and he mentioned something that has yet to leave my mind. When asked what value adding the pickleball court to their mini rooftop adds to the M Social Hotel, he stated “it represents being of one community of New York City while emphasizing the rise of pickleball as a sport”. It’s safe to say, adding the court to their rooftop did just that for attendees like myself. For someone who had never played a game of pickleball prior to this, I walked away with a sense of belonging and I know the environment and the people in the environment played a huge role in that. 

If you’re looking to sip on a thoughtfully crafted drink, find a space to share stories with friends or family, gaze out at the New York City views, or practice your pickleball skills, this rooftop is a sanctuary of good vibes.

Private Policy X Fun City Fashion Carnival

On Thursday July 20th, 2023  I made my way to the iconic St. Marks street, to where all the trendy grunge and classic NYC street style originated. Private Policy has been a brand to watch for quite some time, and they’re finally having their moment to shine. Grunge is an aesthetic you can run from or embrace, as it pushed the limits of fashion. Grunge incorporates a lot of distressed details, heavy jewelry, mesh, and the ability to create what you want out of statement pieces you may have. Private Policy as brand stands for inclusivity, bold personality and full fierce expressiveness of their consumers who wear their clothing. That is why, with this new release, it expands even more of their chic and spunky collection.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Siying Qu, Co founder and designer of Private Policy.  She informed me that their newest collaboration is with Fun City Tattoo. They are the oldest tattoo shop in New York City, they have seen all the NYC icons and legends walk through their door and created a strong community and culture, which is what Private Policy also stands for, which is what makes this collaboration so special. It is a collaboration of two edgy and authentic brands coming together to bring the culture back mainstream in NYC.  “We wanted to do something classic, black and white, and feature the designs by the artists, Diego, and have a Y2K but classic New York grunge moment. Our clothes incorporates a lot of utilitarian style, hardware, harnesses, and both of our vibes align perfectly” Siying Qu says. “The photo shoot we had was NYC themed, we brought it back old school New York with the basketball jerseys and that authentic downtown vibe in the park with the dresses and give it a real chill feel to it.”

Fun City had an amazing time with this collaboration because it incorporated a tribute to the original owner of Fun City Jonathan Shaw who is known for pushing the limits of fashion and ever further. Above is the collection and collaboration with tattoo artist and designer Diego on Private Policy’s clothing. The collection is up and available for sale, along side Private Policies previous runway collections and sample sale items. The pop up was such a fun event, the moment you walked in, you were greeted with a complimentary White Claw with mouth watering flavors, a carnival game where you can win a prize, and the stunning collection in the back. The collection was so soft grunge, edgy and unique. I wanted the whole collection to be my walk in closet.

Sipsmith Wins Big at The Hill

New York City may have been miles away from Wimbledon this weekend, but the extraordinary Sipsmith brought the sweet sensation of the beloved game to the Big Apple in style.

A recreation of the British experience took place at Brooklyn Bridge Park where the greatest gin in the world hosted a divine VIP watch party of the tournament’s final matches. The rain may have been off and on this steamy weekend in July, but the temperatures soared to sunny feelings with Sipsmith serving incredible cocktails on the lawn.

The Gentlemen’s Singles Semi-Finals on Friday, July 14 had the crowd at Pier 6 indulging in the Hibiscus & Vanilla Strawberry Sour with Sipsmith Strawberry Smash Gin, Lime, Hibiscus, Vanilla, Bitters and Black Pepper; as well as the Cucumber & Elderflower Sour with Sipsmith London Dry Gin, Elderflower Cordial, Cucumber, Lemon and Bitters. Some even cooled off with Sipsmith FreeGlider Alcohol Spirit with Grapefruit and Lemonade.

The authentic Wimbledon experience took place over three days and was a full recreation of the legendary Henman Hill. All the electrifying tennis action was watched on a big screen that was setup in a display in front of panoramic views of Lower Manhattan.

Live performances and tournament stewards around the grounds helped make a perfect summertime-in-London atmosphere.

Sit Poolside and Eat Hawaiian Street Food at The Dominick this Summer

You’d be quickly forgiven if you mistook the seventh-floor rooftop pool and bar views of a Soho hotel as straight out of the first season of The White Lotus.
Thanks to The Dominick’s lusciously decorated exterior views and El Ta’Koy’s fantastic food and drink menu, you’ll have a pretty hard time convincing people you didn’t pop into a Hawaiian resort for the weekend.
Instead, bring Hawaii to you this summer at El Ta’Koy at Terrace on 7. Located on the seventh floor of The Dominick Hotel, the restaurant not only boasts authentic succulent pig roast and frozen cocktails to surely quench any summer hankering, but it also delivers you to the island of Kauai itself with its canopied cabanas and a four-foot deep pool with a lifeguard on duty.
Kauai is special to El Ta’Koy, being where Chef Luis A. Pous first came up with the Hawaiian street food-inspired restaurant while he was opening a restaurant of his own on the island. There, he was able to discover the mixing of cultures found at farmers markets and food truck events, and found that the food was influenced by Polynesian culture in addition to Caribbean, North Latin and South American, European and East Asian cultures as well.
The melting pot was all apparent on June 29 when The Dominick hosted a special VIP summer launch event. El Ta’Koy kicked off the start of summer with a succulent pig roast, passed taquitos, tostadas and lumpias, churros to wrap up the evening, and, of course, tropical drinks like frozen Daiquaris and Margaritas.

Hotel guests and visitors alike can trade the sights and sounds of the city streets below with poolside spa treatments and festive rum and tiki-inspired libations. Visitors can also reserve a private cabana with seatting up to six people and with complimentary WiFi, mineral water and scented towels to use at the pool.
Summer at The Dominick in SoHo is known for El Ta’Koy at Terrace on 7 – a lushly landscaped indoor-outdoor restaurant complete with cabanas and poolside spa treatments that have guests feeling more like they’re at a resort than a sleek urban hotel.

There’s still a chance to visit The Dominick’s next luau, set to take place monthly throughout the summer. The next scheduled luaus are on July 26 and August 30, with additional summer events including Taco Tuesdays, Rum Flight Wednesdays, and Wine Tasting Thursdays.
