Bring on the Buchmans and bagels.
There are few things more beloved in this world than a New York City bagel and the classic American sitcom “Mad About You.” It’s only natural that the two would eventually join forces to create #MadAboutBagelsDay in anticipation for the release of the rebooted final six episodes premiering on December 18th on Spectrum.
Hosted by Bantam Bagels on Bleecker Street, the pop up event gave fans the chance to step into the Buchman household with free bagels all afternoon served by actress Abby Quinn who plays Mabel Buchman on the show.

We caught up with Abby in between servicing hungry patrons to ask a few questions about the release:
The Knockturnal: What are you doing here in New York today?
Abby Quinn: We are giving out free bagels in honor of “Mad About You” releasing the next six episodes on December 18th!
The Knockturnal: People love this show, were you surprised at all by the response to the reboot and did fans reach out to you?
Abby Quinn: I was a little nervous at first because it’s bringing something beloved back to life and that can sometimes be scary. Luckily everyone was so excited. Paul [Reiser] is writing the episodes amongst a team of writers so it’s the same tone. I think the reason people loved the show originally is because it’s Paul’s voice and him and Helen [Hunt] coming to life they have such a chemistry. Knowing they were on this and were the same Jamie + Paul Buchman, that was comforting for me.
The Knockturnal: How was it for you as an actress walking into a show with so much history?
Abby Quinn: It was really exciting. I haven’t really done anything like this. I worked on a lot of projects where it’s starting from zero. You know it’s about the building process especially for the characters but it was nice for me because I had a lot of episodes to watch so I had a lot of research I could go off of. I felt through watching the episodes I was really connected to [Paul and Helen] and often you don’t get a lot of time with other actors before filming starts and they’re playing my parents so we need to have a connection. Through watching the episodes that connection grew for me.
The Knockturnal: This season marks a new chapter for the Buchmans.
Abby Quinn: It’s a new chapter yeah. Mabel, my character, is leaving for NYU which is five blocks away but Jamie is freaking out and Mabel is trying her best not to show it. I think that’s why a new audience will tune in and be interested to watch.
The Knockturnal: We are in Bantam’s Bagel shop and “Mad About You” is a very New York show, what are some of your favorite New York foods?
Abby Quinn: I really like bagels and am a fan of pizza. When I come here I have two restaurants that I love. The Butcher’s Daughter is one. And the coffee! I drink way too much coffee.
The Knockturnal: You’re a New Yorker already!
Abby Quinn: Yes that’s true!
You can watch the remaining six episodes of “Mad About You” on December 18th only on Spectrum
