“WENCH” was the title of Shayne Oliver’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection for “Hood by Air”. With a much anticipated front row, and an even more exciting show to follow, guests waited for arrivals to an X rated soundtrack of what seemed to be fifteen minutes of fellatio.
After all, the show was sponsored by Pornhub, which made their debut three fourths of the way through the show in the form of a logo tank top and a pair of spandex briefs. The crowd didn’t seem to mind the explicit intermission, as Rick Ross laughed along with Will.I.Am and Juicy J in the front row. Also in attendance was Jaden Smith, apl.de.ap, Vashtie Kola, Whoopi Goldberg, Teyana Taylor, Iman Shumpert, Jussie Smollett, Naomi Campbell, EJ Johnson, Bethann Hardison, Hari Nef, Virginia Smith, Grace Coddington, Hamish Bowles and a surprise runway appearance by renowned photographer Wolfgang Tillmans.
Highlights of the show include half packaged button up shirts strapped onto the front of models with the classic “Hello my name is” tag labeled “WENCH” attached to the collar, and another similar style of shirt attached to the model via a halter strap.
This season was significantly more logo-less than the past, and were replaced with text reading “NEVER TRUST A CHURCH GIRL”, “DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE”, and “HUSTLER” in bold black letters.
Keeping with the HBA aesthetic, the overall collection was comprised of extremely deconstructed garments, plenty of zippers, vaseline drenched hair, and shoes with backwards facing soles.
