Hundreds of fans packed New York City nightlife hotspot Marquee New York City on Friday night to celebrate the highly anticipated season finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 18.
The event transformed the Chelsea venue into a high-energy viewing party, where cheering crowds gathered to witness the crowning of the newest drag superstar.
Season 18 launched with a bold design challenge titled “Reclaim, Renew, Rejoice,” pushing contestants to transform recycled materials into elevated runway fashion. From the outset, the competition showcased a dynamic mix of artistry, performance, and personality, with queens consistently delivering standout moments that kept audiences engaged week after week. Among the early frontrunners, Myki Meeks, Darlene Mitchell, and Nini Coco quickly distinguished themselves, securing their spots in the final stretch of the competition.
A defining moment of the season came during the fan-favorite Snatch Game, where Florida theatre performer Myki Meeks delivered a widely praised impersonation of Hollywood icon and talk show host Drew Barrymore. The performance earned acclaim from the judging panel, including guest judge Brooke Shields. This cemented Meeks as a serious contender for the crown. Throughout the season, Meeks demonstrated consistent charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, building momentum toward her eventual victory.
For the New York City crowning celebration, Meeks arrived in a striking purple, Old Hollywood–inspired gown paying homage to Marilyn Monroe. Speaking about her journey, she reflected on the creative rediscovery the competition offered her:
“My favorite challenge was the Rusical, Fannie: The Rusical. I got to reignite a passion that I had put away for a while, so it was really special to return to that.”
As Meeks took the stage to accept her title, the crowd erupted in applause, confirming her status as a fan-favorite winner. The electrifying atmosphere at Marquee underscored the cultural impact of ‘Drag Race’, which continues to elevate drag artistry on a global stage.
Fans can look forward to seeing Myki Meeks on the upcoming live tour, where the Season 18 winner will bring her signature performance style to audiences nationwide.
