RuPaul’s Drag Race’s ‘Sketchiest’ Queen Hosts Season Two Premiere of Her Dragged up Comedy Series

Like Mr. Show but Queer

Something sketchy in Hollywood? Ru, never.

Our beloved queen of all queens Jinkx Monsoon hosted the premiere of the second season of her irreverent and irregular scripted comedy series ‘Sketchy Queens’ at World of Wonder headquarters in Hollywood. And what a hoot it was.

Fresh off a very successful Broadway run and starring role in Doctor Who, all of us were eager to see her next creative project. Technically this is season two but you know what I mean.

The episode she screened was both funny and cathartic, with vignettes of Jinkx in conversation with herself or her being offered drinks – she’s sober – at terrible club gigs.

The highlight was a faux reality show where all the contestants have to guess who among them is secretly a witch. Jinkx has a huge prosthetic nose and is constantly hexing people while denying that she’s the witch. It was freakin hilarious. Also if you’re familiar with her work you know this girl loves witches.

After the screening, she performed a live duet with the show’s co-creator Liam Krug. She’s a Broadway girl as I mentioned, and didn’t disappoint. Sure the number was funny, but she was belting that thang out.

Like damn, ok.

While I was sad to see her go as the show wrapped, the night did turn into a dance party, so it wasn’t all bad.
