The cast of ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ is preparing to say goodbye as the series heads into its fifth and final season, and based on their latest comments, viewers can expect an intense and emotional conclusion to the story.
The Knockturnal caught up with cast members Patina Miller, London Brown, Wendell Pierce, Shameik Moore, and Joe Pantoliano as they reflected on the show’s journey and shared insights into what awaits fans in the final chapter.
For Miller, who has portrayed Raquel “Raq” Thomas throughout the series, the role has been transformative both professionally and personally. Miller said playing Raq as strengthened her confidence and pushed her to grow in ways she had not anticipated when the series began. This comes not long after she was honored at the 2026 Reel Works Gala.
“She’s taught me to live in myself and trust myself even more than what I did before,” Miller said, reflecting on her personal growth
Brown also looked back on his experience playing Marvin Thomas, noting that the show’s layered storytelling constantly challenged him as a performer. He explained that maintaining continuity across the character’s emotional journey required careful attention to detail and a deep understanding of Marvin’s motivations throughout the series.
Brown also addressed one of the most talked about moments from the Season 5 trailer, a brutal confrontation between Marvin and Kanan. The actor said filming the fight sequence was physically demanding, requiring intense choreography and endurance to bring the emotional showdown to life.
“It was physically demanding, because we go through the choreography and that was pretty draining, physically demanding, and I think it’s going to be exactly what the fans have been wanting to see,” Brown said.
As for Season 5, the cast agreed that the stakes have never been higher. Miller described the upcoming episodes as a relentless march toward an inevitable conclusion, with every decision carrying significant consequences. Brown added that while the season will answer many of the questions fans have been asking, some outcomes may be surprising as characters searching for closure will find themselves navigating a world shaped by betrayal, revenge, and difficult choices.
One of the biggest additions to the final season is Breeze, a long-anticipated character played by Shameik Moore. Moore spoke about joining the series and credited his previous work on New York based projects with helping him connect to the character’s presence and mentality.
Wendell Pierce had high praise for his co-star.
“Shameik Moore is one of the premier actors in the game today,” said Pierce. “His reputation preceded him, and he lived up to all the expectations.”
Moore was equally complimentary of the veteran actor. “I’m thankful to be able to dance with him,” said Moore. “I’ve seen his work and when we can listen to the same song and get on the same dance floor, it’s beautiful.”
Pierce suggested that Breeze’s arrival on Power Book III: Raising Kanan will have a major impact on the story. The veteran actor hinted that viewers should pay close attention to the shifting power dynamics within the Thomas family and the dangerous alliances that emerge as the series reaches its conclusion.
Joe Pantoliano also discussed joining the show as a mob boss, explaining that he was drawn to the opportunity to create a character who differed from many of the roles audiences associate with him. Pantoliano said he found inspiration in the quiet and understated figures he observed growing up in New Jersey and was eager to work alongside the cast and creative team behind the series.
As the final season approaches, the cast expressed pride in what Raising Kanan has accomplished over five seasons. They praised the writing, the performances, and the show’s ability to expand the mythology of the Power universe while remaining focused on the complicated relationships at its core.
With longtime questions set to be answered and new conflicts emerging, the cast believes the final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan will deliver a fitting end to one of the franchise’s most acclaimed chapters.
